No way? You sure? Cap room is a complete non-factor, and I don't think DL is sold on LaBarbera (at least I hope he isn't). I'd rather have him than Kolzig. For one year, I would think this is the kind of situation Lombardi would be looking for.

I wouldnt mind Huet, I just thought the Hawks would try to bring Emery in.

They are going youger and thats something I like to see, I'm sure this is a huge blow to Crawford tho, Hes gonna have to really step it up in camp.

Expensive deal, but Huet is a top 10 goaltender IMO. I can only hope there is a Khabby deal in place because otherwise we have don't have enough cap space to bring in a top free agent.

With a good enough team in front of him Huet can give you a chance to win in the playoffs, which is all the Hawks will need in the next few years.

This isn't looking good! I have seen no indication that Khabby is being traded

Huet is on radio on CKAC in mtl and he is saying that the Hawks would not have committed that much money on him without planning to have him number 1. He says they (the Hawks) are very excited and are VERY BUSY. GOod

That is a ridiculous overpayment for Huet. WAY too much dinero. $4MM max per year would be more realistic.

Wow didn't they learn from the Khabi contract?

5.6 for a guy who has yet to clearly establish himself as a number 1 goalie..

I think Tallon is shopping his 7.5 Million dollar contract for a conditional 7th round pick as we speak while offering Campbell and Hossas agents contracts. I know someone will take Khabby for the last year of his contract. The thing IMO is that I'm sure lots of teams are trying to send salary back...I dont think the Hawks want anything to do with that.

There are strong rumblings about the Kings trading for Chicago goalie Nikolai Khabibulin. As of about 15 minutes ago, the Kings weren't confirming anything..

Huet reportedly just said in an interview on CAC that it is a 4-year deal @ $22m ($5.5m/yr). He offered the Caps the opportunity to match, but they refused.

Yep,match for a 2nd time.He first asked for 3yrs at 5 mil per then decided he`d test free agency after the Caps agreed to the 5 mill per.
Nice...but hey,you try to get what you can.
All I can say is I really hope Theo has as good a year as his last.
I really didn`t want him but at 4.5 for 2 yrs versus 5.5 for 4yrs,I`d have to admit I`m not too disappointed.
Mcphee`s pretty sharp....he`s gonna have Backstrom and Semin`s contracts to deal with in 2 yrs and he`s probably hoping Varlamov or Neuvirth are ready by then.

At least Huet is a quality NHL goalie!

How much did you give Cloutier?

I tend to agree. It gives Lombardi the goalie he needs and the length of contract to ensure that Bernier plays an entire season in the AHL.

Lombardi is not keen on rushing kids, especially goalies.

We should also get a good prospect or pick coming back our way for taking this salary off their hands.

On TSN they just said it looks like the Blackhawks are going to keep Khabibulin.

To which McGuire said "Dumb. That's dumb." about 10 times.

And Miller just said the Hawks are currently about 4-5m over the cap as it stands now.

With the Hawks being my faverate team out in the west I'm extremly excited for them getting huet. Say what you want it being an over payment....needless to say I'll be extremly pissed if they miss the post season with the team they have now.

Tallon needs to be fired if he's really keeping Habby.

Blackhawks come through with some staggering over-payments today for Huet and Campbell to go along with thier young group of stars.

The Hawks should have rode this season out with what they had and went into next years free agency period like gangbusters. In 2 or 3 years Campbell might not be one of the Hawks top 5 players and he'll be making Nik Lidstrom, Dion Phaneuf, Zdeno Chara money.

I'm fairly surprised Ottawa has yet to upgrade their goaltending.

Perhaps Khabi is making his way there. Or LA.

I'm also surprised that Washington decided on Theodore instead of keeping Huet. But i suppose it was a mutual decision.

Meanwhile, Colorado's not looking good with Raycroft.

Like these signings or not, Chicago is serious about making the playoffs next year.

I'm not that surprised by the money Huet got, Cambell on the other hand...

That's Toskala money. Huet is clearly better.
