Well said. It's a horrible time to be a Panther fan on these boards because not only are our fans so damn negative about everything, but everyone else is so negative toward us. It's been really hard to post here since the Jokinen trade.

The only solice in being a Panther fan, is that how ever low we feel, we don't support the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Stillman was a great player for us in Carolina, and did well in his short time with Ottawa. Although I didnt like him when he was in Tampa (im not a big fan of Tampa lol), since he came to Carolina, he has been a consistent scoring forward, however silent in a non-scoring way he was. He is a really great guy, a good family guy, and a wonderful locker room addition. Hope he does well in Tampa, although I am going to hate playing AGAINST him 8 times a year (or is it 6 now?)

I may be the only one, but I think this is way too much for Stillman. He's clearly on the downside and turns 35 this December. Plus, I don't think he's going to help Florida out of the basement, so why spend the money.

I would have loved to have him on the Devils for that amount. I assume the Panthers will play him next to Horton.

Most likely. There have been rumors of Horton being moved to center.

This signing would have made sense if they still had Jokinen. Now, instead of a scorer without someone to set him up, it's a playmaker without someone to set up.

Horton is probably a better shooter than Jokinen (with the exception of Jokinen's blast from the point on the PP).

He's got a better wrister. But he likes to miss the net picking those corners.

Hmph. Speak for yourself. I still like the Leafs.

Re: Stillman...not a bad deal. I'll reserve judgement for now though.

Great Signing!!! And the best part is that he should play well when he plays against his former teams in Tampa & Carolina many times during the season.

I have a weak spot for Stillman. Dude produces everywhere and is still not done.

I called this deal & the Andrew Brunnette to Minnesota deal yesterday!!! Look on the "prediction on which FA will sign first" thread!

Wow!!! 2 for 2. I'm doing better than Eklund!

IMO this signing couldn't be a more perfect fit for us. He is still a great player who can still produce and brings that much needed experience into our very young lineup! Stillman will be a great voice in the locker room and a great leader for us out on the ice, possibly an even better leader then Jokinen ever was for us!

This deal will look like a mistake fairly shortly.

Well, I'm convinced. Me and the other 20 Panthers fans will go find Martin right now and drag him out of the state.

Just makes it even funnier when it comes from a Laughs fan. Kubina, McCabe and Finger are great deals!

er.... jokinen was never a good leader. his removal from the room was a positive as is evidenced by JM's remarks today. bringing in stillman (and ballard/boynton) pushes the leadership level up to modest level now.

regarding a scorer to setup, i'd somewhat agree. sure it'd be nice to have both but the panthers have some decent scorers. if horton stays with weiss, olesz figures to be the primary benificiary of this move. it won't be a prolific offense but with the solid D and goaltending, they should be ok.

Very glad to have Corey here. I think he'll do a lot to help the team and could either be lined up with Horton or Matthias. Am looking forward to having him here. Great contract, imo.
