Gotcha. Hope we sign Orpik to a semi reasonable deal and bring back Rozy. I'll be ok with that d corps.

yep, while we're losing all our production and adding 4th liners. OH, and bring back a D man who was casper the friendly ghost for 30 games.

Anyone who actually thinks Sather is a good GM needs to get their head examined.

I think if Orpik comes to the D then we feel ALOT better

I also think this means Betts, Orr, Hollweg are all goners in deals

And anyone who's going to jump to conclusions based on a few hours of the first day of free agency also needs to have their head examined.

renney and sather must see something in him........i trust him as they put the team togethet the past few years and have found a few gems(avery, nylander, straka, rozsival, girardi etc..)......i still like the signing...seems like a solid third liner with size and grit......i had a feeling they would do something like this, although i thouhgt it would be torres

He was hot for a while scoring almost a point per game. Then he went totally cold and stopped scoring completely and got moved to the 4th line where he had no chance to score.

But he's a good signing for a million a year. Having followed him most of the year, I would definitely sign him for that kind of money. This may be our best signing of the day.

He's definitely an upgrade on both Hollweg and Orr.

While you seem to know more about him BrooklynHockey, I doubt he stopped scoring and as a result was moved to the fourth line.

Rather, it was vice-versa, no?

i think rissmiller/hollweg fight for the extra forward spot in camp and one hits the ahl.

Does anybody think voros is more than a 4th liner? Can he be put on drury wing and produce something?

since we're losing avery/strak/shanny and prob jagr, dawes/callahan/korp are getting a promotion onto the top lines, so i kind of see where slats is going in signing these guys. If Jagr sign and we sign our rfas, i still think we have a shot at making noise next year.

...

for those of you who have not seen Voros play ,he will surprise you.

Aside from his size(he is huge), the kid can actually play! There is a reason why he had 14 points in 55 games. I think that if this is Avery's replacement, its a VERY good one. Avery had it all, except size. Voros will be much more durable than Avery, while still putting up around 30-40 points a season and plenty of PIMs.

At $1 mill a season the guy is really a steal! I thought he would get at least $1.5 or $2 after his breakout season last season.

I don't think we have enough left to sign Jagr
