This isn't a prediction but maybe we can talk on July 1st. It's past 11am MST on Canada Day and does anyone else find it odd that the Giordano signing hasn't been announced yet? If he was signed in December as Sutter said, why has it yet to be announced?

Also, no mention of Nolan resigning. Perhaps he will be going elsewhere? Regardless, I get the feeling that Sutter isn't done yet. I really hope I like the moves because this team still needs 2 defenseman and at least a top 6 forward.

Peter Maher and Bruce Dowbiggin are reporting on the Fan that the Flames are one of 5 or 6 teams that are seriously after Wade Redden. How we can pick this salary up I have no idea.

TSN reporting that Redden's down to two teams, the Sharks and Flames.

The only way the Flames would be able to sign Redden is if Aucoin is moved.

Bizarre, they Flames would certainly have to ditch Aucoin and Warrener to bring in Redden I would guess.

TSN said he was getting a 2 year offer similiar to the Tucker deal. The flames are still talking to Nolan, but I doubt we will give him that much. I think he is gone if the rumours are true.

Eklund is reporting that Avery is interested in Calgary...... wouldn't it be interesting to see Avery and Phaneuf on the same team (Elisha Cuthbert). For this reason alone I couldn't imagine Sutter being interested.

This is probably very inappropriate but it would get even more interesting if Huselius was still here.

Just had to. Sorry.

So would I be wrong in saying this is essentially Calgary's current roster?

Cammalleri - Langkow - Iginla
Boyd - Lombardi - Backlund
Bourque - Conroy - Moss
Nystrom - Primeau - Greentree
Prust, Nilson

Giordano - Phaneuf
Sarich - Regehr
Aucoin - Eriksson
Warrener

Kiprusoff
McElhinney

Taking the cap numbers from nhlscap.com and these estimates...

Bourque - 1,000,000
Nystrom - 687,500
Giordano - 900,000
McElhinney - 650,000

That gives Calgary a current cost $55,099,167 in terms of the cap for next year.

So they definitely need a winger, as I basically put Backlund in there as a placeholder. If they can get takers on Nilson, Eriksson and Warrener things change a little as that opens up 4.85 mil in cap space, but then they need another forward and 2 defensemen.

Should be an interesting couple months, this team is gonna have a bit of a youth movement up front whether everyone likes it or not it seems. And it should have one on the defense a bit next year I think.

Anyone care to elaborate on this?

Hossa and Aucoin?

I must say I am very impressed with the overall moves, younger, faster and more dynamic. I hope we get Glencross, Vandermeer and then Hossa trading Aucoin for draft picks and maybe a junior D to clear the cap.... here's to hoping
