Bertuzzi to Montreal...e(4)

Hey Habs fans,

Surprised that this isn't already posted on your board but looks like Bertuzzi is being pursued by Gainey....I find this strange since he is the opposite of your current system (speed, europeans) and wondering if any of this was on the radar in Montreal?

Man, if you guys didn't like Ryder, add a couple pounds, years, and attitude and you have a new paper-airplane maker!

but the difference between Bertuzzi and Ryder is that Bertuzzi actually uses his size

Is he as dominant as he was a few years ago? Of course not. I'd have no problems signing Bert, he's exactly what the Habs have needed for years...a big body in the top 6 to create some room out there.

I also wouldn't break the bank for him though

I liked it better when people enjoyed shooting the **** about rumours both plausible and implausible. This one would be nice to talk about seriously for a bit but unfortunately since it's from eklund's site everyone is going to fall all over themselves (once they wake up) to top themselves...

"I BRUSHED MY TEETH (e5)!!!!1111111111111"

Anyway, I think it'd be an interesting acquisition, but it wouldn't be earth-shattering. I'm still hoping for earth-shattering.

If the price and the length is good, I wouldn't mind that at all. He could also be a good mentor to Lats (it's his favorite player)

He also has them interested in Naslund. Could they miss out on Hoosa and Sundin then we may see these 2 reunited. The Habs need a center and all but Sundin are wingers.

It's still an E4. I know he's wrong most of the time, but his ratio when it's on E4 is good. I won't be surprised if it's true, and would be happy with a Tucker like contract...

Sundin signing with MTL last Sunday was an E4 awell.

I would much rather go with Grabovski or Chipchura. I don't want Bertuzzi.

You were also expecting MacDonagh. Bertuzzi isn't old enough to get a bonus-laden contract.

I'd take him on for 2 million if we can't get Sundin, but he probably won't be around for that long.

Bertuzzi can wait. A looooong time. If he's still available in August and we haven't signed anybody yet, well, maybe I'd start to consider him.

I know, but many E4 became E5 (confirmed) not too long after. I think his ratio is quite good with E4s. Anyways, I don't really care right now because if we get him, it's fine, and if not, well it's alright. I like the team we have right now...

In this current market, signing Bertuzzi scares me.

If it was a short-term conservative deal (unlikely) and we got shutout on the Sundin and Hossa fronts, I guess I wouldn't mind too much.

I want no part of Bertuzzi. Naslund any time. But since our team is based on speed AND skill, getting Bertuzzi makes no sense. Gainey said that this was the identity of our time, so why should we be counter-productive?

Bertuzzi is finished.

Did you watch many 2nd games of HNIC's double-headers last year? Naslund was barely visible in any of the Canucks games I saw. He just don't see what he could bring to this team that we don't already have.
