But I'm on a sort of a roll. I did a thing with Marc Denis presenting him as a solution as third string goalie. And on 110% I predicted Jagr would sign in Russia.

We'll see. If Alex Henry was RH, I'd see him as a potential 7th D-man. he might just bee this year's Mathieu Biron. In any case, I think they need someone for the first half of the season. Neither Valentenko or Carle is ready, but who knows; one of them could be by mid-season.

My question is: If Dandenault leaves, who become our extra right defenceman behind Komi, O'Byrne and Gorges in case of injury? Is there a guy in Hamilton who plays the right side and is ready?
Hamrlik can fill in at RD while someone in the system is brought up.

first time I hear marriage referred to as personal problems. All though it could be seen that way.

edit: Personnel ? This brings an all new dimension to this story.

If this is true, then Bob Gainey got to know something we don't during their 10 days romance. And Gainey is a king at dealing with these situations, we are in good hands!

Pretty much.

I'm guessing Sundin told him, "I got things I have to do first. Make me an offer, I'll consider it, but if someone else comes up, go after them. I gotta deal with Mats first".

That's why Montreal, unlike other teams, did not go out and grab themselves a Plan B. Money for Sundin is still open. We offered him $7.5M for 2 years, and we certainly have that free (especially if we do unload Dandenault and Begin).

He is getting married, but Mats is so secretive who knows when or where that could be? I surely wouldn't consider that a personnal problem, unless he's more contemplating just hanging it up & settling down to raise a family.

There was something about this in the TorStar

Habs finished shopping, waiting on Sundin

http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/mtl080704.html

Montreal Canadiens GM Bob Gainey appears to be finished tinkering with his lineup, at least for the time being.

"For now, we're done," Gainey told the media Thursday afternoon.

The Habs will continue to wait on a decision from Mats Sundin, who plans on taking his time before announcing if he'll return to the NHL next season and with which team he'll be playing for.

"For now, we're done."

Did Gainey really say that? I didn't get to hear the whole press conference but the impression I got was they were still considering players other than Sundin.

I really hope it's true...Sundin is the only guy out there that would make a huge positive impact to our team. I want to wait for him to make his decision and if he doesn't sign just go with Chipchura.

That's excellent, for me it's Sundin or nothing in the UFA market. If we don't get Sundin, we can always consider a trade for an impact player.

A top 4 dman wouldnt hurt us at all.

That may just be to control expectations and media speculation. If you promise an impact player and you can't get one everybody will panic for no reason. 90% of the team is back plus they added Tanguay. Even a status qui things are good.

Maybe as far as free agents are available, there done. But I'm still sure he would be willing to make a trade for that centre, if something came up.

We don't need a top 4 dman as much as we need a centre. I am still not certain that Chipchura is ready but if it comes down to it, then that's fine, give him the experience
