Just imagine and I am getting real greedy here so if it doesnt happen whatever

Signing Orpik!

Right now I would do

Redden , Girardi
Staal, Rozsival

It does leave two holes on D but confident they can be filled with a FA and another deal PLUS they could give Potter and Pock a shot

Sad to see Toots go but we def. needed that boost in front. Got a little scared after the signings but way to pull this trade out and dump Backman at the same time!

Man I hope we get Orpik now! Please! We lost some sandpaper we had from Fedor and now need some serious toughness back there or were gonna get pushed around.

Eklund just confirmed this deal is done 2 for 2.
Yes, I'd like to sign Oprik as well. That'd be great if Slats pulled that off, I don't know what else you could ask for.

i was a big fan of his before, even with the holes in his game. he (and ask any CBJ fan) really stepped up and became a lot more responsible last year..

hopefully he doesn't lapse

So far this deal is awesome.
Tsn also said at first that Tyuts and Backman were "among" the players going to Cbus.

Not that great on the Rangers front? They just got a top 6 forward and another potential 2nd liner for Tyutin and simultaneously got rid of Backman. Not to mention they freed up roughly 3 million in cap space. And Zherdev is an arbitration eligible RFA. Not too worried.

Really nice move by Sather. The Rangers all of a sudden have a legit young top line wingman. Fritsche is a good addition as well.

On what we gave up--Tyutin is a 25 year old d'man with 3+ years of NHL experience--keeping in mind the lockout year. His offense hasn't come around but he is IMO a very solid defender and a good physical player who isn't constantly going to the penalty box. A good skater and a good passer.

Not a fan of Backman at all. 2.3 mil cap hit for him is ridiculous.

From the CBJ blog Puck-Rakers:

Quote:
The Blue Jackets have traded wingers Nikolai Zherdev and Dan Fritsche to the New York Rangers for defensemen Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman, The Dispatch has learned.
Quote:
It has been speculated since the end of the season that the Blue Jackets were attempting to trade Zherdev, who's had a rocky start to his NHL career. He got his career back on track last season, scoring 26 goals and 35 assists in 82 games.

Fritsche, who grew up in the Cleveland suburb of Parma, has been squeezed out this off-season by the Blue Jackets' acquisition of forwards. He had 10 goals and 12 assists in 69 games with the Blue Jackets, ending the season early with a broken hand.

I think they would mention the most notable players in the trade first and if those two are the most notable then I'm entirely comfortable with whoever else we include.

maybe a conditional draft pick if the Rangers sign Fritsche or not if there is anything else.

They'd never trade Staal for Zherdev.

Fritsche is basically a throw in, and Columbus gets two competent defenseman out of the deal, so it's not *that* onesided
