Surprising, I thought he did good in SJ. At least, I think we got a better deal for him

Gorges + Pacioretty > 2 2nd round IMO.

I guess the Sharks overstocked at the D position in the last couple of days.

Good for Rivet! I always thought he was more suited for the Eastern Conference anyways. As a plus, he's closer to his buddy Koivu in terms of travel time and frequency of meetings. As far as the deal goes, good job for the Sharks and boo-urns to the Sabres that overpaid I believe.

yeah, but Zetterberg is earning 2.1 mil for this season.... Detroit will have to give him Hossa's money next year (or maybe more if Zets goes the FA route), and they also have to sign Franzen who'll probably get a bit more than he does now.

They are pretty close to the cap right now, so I don't know, if the cap rises a couple mils and Osgood leaves, they might be able to fit Miller, but it's gonna be tight. Sort of the same thing that will happen here in Montreal if we sign Sundin for two season and we want to keep everyone (besides Dandouillon and Bégin) on the team.. it's gonna be pretty heffin close to the cap.

This from TSN explains why Rivet was dealt:

"Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Dan Boyle has waived his no-trade clause and has been traded to the San Jose Sharks, according to ESPN.com's Scott Burnside.

Details are still being worked out, but it is believed the Lightning will receive defenseman Matt Carle, a first-round draft pick and a fourth-round pick.

According to TSN of Canada, the Lightning also will throw in defenseman Brad Lukowich as part of the trade."

Zetterberg will be earning 2.9, not 2.1

Oh yea? Like who? We need that big talented center. If we don't get Sundin, I don't seen any other big talented centers outthere.

I'd rather have Pacioretty and Gorges than either Rivet or two second-rounders from San Jose, thank you.

Hahahaha, I don't blame some of those Sharks fans wishing that McLaren would have been traded instead.

Sucks for SJ fans, I'm under the impression he was a big fan favourite over there. Glad I'll get to see him more often though

Lets count ourselves lucky that we have Bob Gainey running our team.
Yep. Let's praise da Bob! Seeing these guys act I find them more and more stupid. At least we have somebody that doesn't go nuts because they forgot about cap space(Tampa, etc...). This sucks for Sabres fans. No hope.
