Just saw this on ESPNews, it's exactly what it says on the bottom line ticker.

edit: FAN 590 has reported it to be done

They've been the favorites since last night.

5. After deadline, we heard the front runner for Avery is Dallas, which has plenty of dough and is willing to go over $4 mil for 4.

OVER $4 mil?

Oh wow, if Dallas throws that kind of money at Sean freakin' Avery, I will not be a happy camper.

Dallas does not have plenty of dough and I find it hard to believe they would even offer $4m for 4.

For that $, they better look at Huselius or Naslund first.

$4 million on Avery basically puts us at the cap limit.

Unlike others i'd be happy with Avery at around $2.5-3 million, anymore and i'd want us to avoid.

I think I'm the only person who supports the Stars who wants Avery. Imagine what him, Ott, and Barch could do during the playoffs to get us on the power play.

I'm not willing to go through 82 games of Sean Avery just to see if he's magic in the playoffs.

ESPECIALLY not at $4 mil per season.

lol.

Let Hagman go for three mill, then go get Avery for 4 mill when they already have Morrow and Ott

Ott isn't a little ******. Plus, he is cheaper, younger, and is on level to put up Avery numbers anyway.

I don't see how you can say Avery doesn't earn his money. Think about it, all of these other teams were wanting in on Richard's because he's an awesome player. Now it SEEMS as though people would like Avery, people see something in him. It's what I see in him, he'll fill seats, score more goals than Ott, and he'll agitate the HELL out of people. Oh and he'll put us on the power play. I just don't see this as a bad signing if we do it.

I'm surprised and this isn't meant to be any disrespect to you at all, so please don't take it that way. Every time I go to a game and Ott get's on the ice EVERYBODY goes nuts just to see what he'll do. He's a great kind of player to have on a team and he sells tickets.

I hate Avery with a fiery passion, and its my understanding that Morrow does as well. This would be a bad move, especially for 4 million, IMO.

DON'T DO IT!

I really think it'll be a situation like what we have with Ott... Yeah you love to have him on your team, but when you play against him he's you're worst enemy.

There's another potential reason right there. Not only do we already have a "quasi-Avery" in Steve Ott, but talks of Morrow not exactly being a fan of Avery would throw up red flags everywhere IMO.

Why go after a player when you know there's instant chemistry issues with your team captain, who's just coming off a career year?

He'll earn his bucks in the first round, no doubt. Just don't expect him to even show up for any games after that. The only magic he makes in the second round is a disappearing act.

I'll bet you a hundred dollars that there's a person on EVERY team who hates the guy, but given the chance to have him on their team they'd take it in a second. Also Avery stands in front of the net, the only person on the roster who does that now is Morrow, and from what I've heard Brunnstrom does too. So imagine what Holmstrom did to Turco in the playoffs, and multiply that by MAYBE 2 and you'll see what potentially could be an amazing move for the Stars and the playoffs.

Does the fact that Morrow hates him not bother you? They have some heated history. Team chemistry does matter..
