FYI, they're not replacing Jagr with Naslund straight up. Instead of running their offense through one player (Jagr), they're going to build more of a team. Sather talked about creating that chemistry yesterday.

I consider Gomez and Drury that replacement

No longer will the PP be focussed on Jagr

They can now run tons of talent out there

I also agree that Bertuzzi makes a whole lotta sense right now.........BUT remember Morrison is a FA too so a team could look to lock up both.......question is who needs a shakeup...............I think the Leafs could use that move

The Red Wings were too soft around this time last year too.

note: I am in no way comparing the two teams... but softness seems like something Ducks fans worry about too much.

Obviously Jagr is the better player but stepping away from that era and ushering in a new one led by Gomez and Drury among others is the thing here.

A new era....

Where guys play as a complete team unit, where they don't demand their PP unit out for 1:45 and ***** at others if they aren't given the puck. Where guys don't publicly admit they were floating the entire season just so they could turn it up in the playoffs. Where a team captain doesn't refuse to take a shootout shot when he has a chance to win the game.

Good riddance to Jagr.

Oh please.

Zherdev + Redden + Naslund + Fritsche > Jagr + Old Straka + Old Shanny + Malik

Naslund, Gomez , Zherdev
Dawes, Dubinsky, Drury
Prucha, Fritsche, Callahan
Rissmiller, Betts, Sjostrom, Voros, Jamtin

I hope they made a minor deal sending all their over stock......Orr, Hollweg for a tough D man on the final pairing
dont know if you are better off then you were last season. Jagr,Straka,Avery gone and Naslund,Zherdev and Fritsche in. (looking at the top 6 anyway).
defensively may have taken a step back losing Tyutin and Backman. who replaces them?
Im thinking the Rangers are not done yet, even after the Naslund signing.

If the press conference is on MSG, it looks like the network is having some problems. My screen is totally blacked out.

crap, Kalinin is terrible. Hopefully he gets limited icetime

also, Bertuzzi is a terrible terrible hockey player at this point and doesn't even play the same physical style he used to. Signing him would be a crap move.

Kalinin too? So then the Rangers are mathematically unlikely to get any of Sundin/Jagr/Demitra?

Best of luck to Nazzy in NY, hope he can turn his career back around.

Berts good at standing in front of the net, but he doesn't hit people anymore and he's also coming off a concussion. The only time he did well for the ducks last year was when he played exclusively with Getzlaf and Perry.

also it depends what they can sign Bertuzzi for, either way the Rangers need more toughess if they really want to be contenders.

Unless we're paying Kalinin in peanuts, that's probably a safe assumption.

I am going to miss Nazzy.

At least he is in the Eastern Conference. I wish him the best, but perhaps it is time for the Canucks to move on. Statistically though, he is the greatest Canuck of all time >_>
