4:43pm ET - Naslund confirmed that he's signed a 2-year deal. He said he's received offers from other teams for longer terms, but wanted to go to the Rangers. He said, "I wanted to be signing with a Cup contender. I think we’ve all seen how tight it is, the race, and it’s very difficult to pick a winner before the playoffs start. I believe that just looking at the history, the Rangers are going in the right direction and I want to be a part of that."
4:37pm ET - Says Naslund, "Initially, there was quite a few teams contacting us. Me and my agent, I gave him instructions early on that there was only limited number of teams I was interested in playing for and the Rangers were on top of that list."
The Red Wings were too soft around this time last year too.
note: I am in no way comparing the two teams... but softness seems like something Ducks fans worry about too much.
The Wings had Holmstrom, Cleary and Franzen who are all tough gritty players with skill. Zetterberg learned to be tougher, in the playoffs you have to be able to win in the corners. Detroit also was an established contender, they have 3 superstar players, the rangers have 1.
