I think we'd all agree that the Oilers' needs aren't small, they need strong players in the most important spots of all and if we want to acquire them through trade we have to use some of our most valuable assets.
Although noone is untouchable in the strictest sense - we'd probably trade anyone away if we could get Thornton - which 5 players would steer opposing gm's away from at the expense of all others?

I would have picked Smyth, except he is a guy we can actually get value equal to what he brings to the team (on ice, unlikely we could from a pr point of view). No way could we do that with Dvo, because he's been a lot better than he gets credit for, York is this team's MVP, Torres and Hemsky are the building blocks of the future (although a superstar-potential centre would make that future look a lot better) and Brewer has been getting his game back together and should anchor the blue line for a few more years at least.
With over 23 people voting so far, only 2 have voted for Smyth. That's surprising.
Not to me. Nature of the beast for this team - too many forwards and some of them young at that.
Hemsky/Torres/York make up the 3 from the forwards and since we have a relatively weak defensive corp and goaltending depth... it doesn't surprise me that JDD/Woywitka/Brewer/Semi/Lynch go ahead of Smyth on the depth chart. Left wing is not really a major major priority.
