Owen Nolan

Pens fan here, quick question. What is Nolan asking for and is he even worth it anymore

I'm pretty sure he wants a two year contract around $2 million a season. Not worth it IMO, even though he a had a good season last year. A two year contract, as ridiculous as it may sound, is too risky for a 36 year old.

Last I heard he wanted a deal similiar to the Tucker deal. So about 2 years for a little over 2 million a year. Sutter only wants to give him one year. Is he worth it? I would say for one year definetly. More than that though and I wouldn't do it.

This little quip was in the Sun yesterday:

Quote:
Sutter said he and Nolan's agent "continue to talk" but he doesn't want to go beyond a one-year deal for a veteran player and is "not going to overpay to fill that spot."
I take it as the Flames would welcome back Nolan for another season, really the ball is in Owen court.

We just have to wait and see.

So he signs with the Wild for 2 years at 5.5 million. Would have loved to have him back, but not for that long and that much money a year. The Wild definetly overpaid for him.

Agreed. I wouldn't have had a huge problem bringing him back for 2 years, but the money is a little much. But the Flames really need to find a second line winger, be it a LW or RW. Gotta get someone for Lombardi to play with.

Yeah, if that's what it would take to get Nolan back, good on Sutter for passing on it.

I wish Nolan all the best. It was great having him on this team, even if it was only one season.

I'm a big Flames fan as well, and I was really hoping he wouldn't leave.

I will miss him, and wish him well (but not that well) with the Wild.

For the last time: GET OFF MY TEAM OWEN!!

Glorious news. Most ridiculously inflated contract of the summer.

Second-most ridiculously inflated contract of the summer. First place goes to Finger.

Finger, to his credit, won't turn 55 before his contract is up. Finger has a future. Nolan stopped having a future around the lockout. And that's being very generous.

He was our 2nd best player against the Sharks in the playoffs...

Nolan was awesome as a Flame.

I would have to cede that honor to a defender who scored a point per game but he did play well. Nolan will be missed. Best of luck.
