Bruins prospect Jamie Arniel arrested for impaired driving
Arniel went on half-hour long smashing spree

By THE CANADIAN PRESS

KINGSTON, Ont. Boston Bruins prospect Jamie Arniel has been arrested for impaired driving.

Police allege that Arniel was behind the wheel of a Toyota that zig-zagged across lawns and hit parked cars, utility poles and a stop sign in a half-hour long early-morning smashing spree in the Kingston west-end neighbourhood where he lives.

Police say Arniel, who was arrested at 3:27 a.m. on June 22, later submitted a breath sample that showed he had a blood-alcohol level two and a half times over the legal limit.

Arniel had been seen in a nightclub in downtown Kingston the night before his arrest.

What a tool. I heard stories about this guys behaviour and attitude while looking at the draft...starting to see evidence of it now. Pathetic.

dude, you gotta feel for the poor kid. He got drafted by the Bruins. I think it's safe to say that everyone here would be depressed if that happened to them. Almost everyone would be drinking everyday too...

But driving drunk is a little bit too much though

Wait, I'm confused. Is he a Bruin prospect or a Bruins fan? It's hard to tell with the allegations.

Arniel, 18, the nephew of former NHL player Scott Arniel, was ranked among the top 25 North American players available at the June 21 NHL draft in Ottawa. He was selected 97th overall by the Bruins

How many can truthfully say that they weren't guilty of youthful indiscretions? As long as no one was hurt and he learned a lesson, it's water under the bridge.

Exactly. Just because you are slated to make alot of money in the future doing what you love does mean you don't have youth influences that direct you toward being a complete idiot on any given night. We are all kids at some point --- let's not think we are above our fellow man just because he is talanted enough to follow a professional dream that we don't have the skills to also commend

Amen

I'm sure that if one of those parked cars were yours, you'd feel the same way.

If he were playing under Carbonneau, he would be driving more North-South, rather than zigzagging, which of course can still be counter-productive if the highway is east-west .

I've got to agree, that's a bit beyond the pale of "youthful indiscretion."

Well honestly guys, what would you do??

He just got drafted by the Bruins...apparently he has been on a drinking binge since they day he got drafted. The night of thr incident, a few hours before Chiralelli called him to invite him to prospect camp and reminded him that they havent won a cup in 40 years. But he assured him that the Bruins may be slow and unable to score, but they are big and scary, and enjoy moral victories.

He and Joe Colborne (according to sources) call each other at night and cry. They eventually pass out with the phone still on.
