Should be interesting.
It sure should be.
If Frogren pans out and Schenn meets expectations, along with Finger we will in a year or two finally have a good blend among the defence core. Its been a long time since we've had a proper balance. And thats with parts to spare.

This one doesnt get enough love. Good one!
Fletchs is so quiet when it comes to McCabe its almost Peddie vs JF Jr again.

I like this Frögren signing too. We need a defenceman still. We only have like 10 Dmen right now. Not enough if you ask me

Obviously I haven`t seen the guy play, so I can`t comment directly, but he sounds like a solid bottom pairing defenceman who can play more than 5 minutes. Hopefully an upgrade on Kronwall and Woz.

We certainly do have a lot of D under contract now, but this just gives us another asset. It`s like when we signed Joseph the first time. Potvin was an adequate goalie, and it was argued we didn`t need another one, but signing one (who was somewhat better) just meant we could move Potvin to fill a much more pressing organizational need at the time (Berard). Frogren and Finger just make some incumbent D somewhat redundant and the next few months will show us who, and they`ll hopefully get moved to fit other organizational needs (frontline forwards, draft picks).

I think Cola is toast. These guys are seldom hurt:

Kaberle - Kubina
Finger - White
Frögren - Strålman

Has the guy spent a lot of time playing on the NA ice surface?
There is a learning curve moving over to the smaller ice.

It sounds to me like Monday. I hope there isn't any chance of anyone else swooping in and taking him though.

"Frogren confirmed a financial agreement had been reached with Farjestad, his Swedish elite league team, releasing him from his existing contract. Sweden sources said the agreement was worth at least $200,000 US.

"I have not talked with Toronto today. I'll probably do that Monday," Frogren said."

gamaches wasnt so bad I would put him on a top line and he could get us as many points as any of the newly acquired leafs ...course we barely got to see him play

This legend lives on? Gamache played very well in his first couple of outings then his play progressively degraded to the point that he was a redundant, soft 4th liner. That has always been the pattern with his NHL auditions: fast starts then a rapid tail off to consecutive game without points.

He reminds me of Bruce Boudreau in the 70's, looks like a first liner for the first couple of games whenhe was called up but then flames out over time. This is typical of players who can dominate at the AHL level but just cannot make at the NHL level. The trouble with small players is unless they are getting you a ppg then they are pretty well useless. They have to find a way to play in the top 6, there are not many that can do it unless your name is Michael Peca/D'arcy Tucker etc. (in their day)

Yes, Gamache had darn good stats in the AHL.

Just because a small guy is good in the AHL doesn't mean it will translate to the NHL. I certainly wouldn't be giving up a 2nd. and a 5th. for a player like Gamache.

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.
