Havlat available

Havlat on the block?

Quote:
the star 940 is making claims that the Hawks are trying to move high priced forward Martin Havlat. Teams rumored to be intrested are Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Atlanta, and not to rule out Edmonton or Montreal.

Take it for what it is worth....

I'm assuming due to Chicago's cap problems he could be had for a song?

I'm sure the Oilers would be interested if they find a team interested in Roloson.

Not sure I really want to see what Regehr would do to him 6 times a year.... but it'd be fun while it lasted.

How in the world could Pittsburgh make a play? I know that all of HF has told us that the owners would always be $10's of million under the cap perpetually and that is why we would be shedding all of our core, but both of those things have played out to be false.

Pittsburgh has committed over $52 million of the $56 million cap already, and are signing Janne Pesonen. That would further erode the about $3.8 mil breathing room they have. They are going to want some flexibility come trade deadline to add some salary if needed. How much does Havlat make? I doubt it would even be possible with Pittsburgh if Chicago is doing it for salary reasons and equivilent salary (like Sydor for instance) is not coming back the other way.

He needs to go to a team with a black and red jersey.

Taylor Pyatt and Jeff Cowan for Martin Havlat? Hawks shed about $3.7M, enough to get comfortably under the cap, and also pick up a pretty decent 3rd liner in Pyatt. Cowan is a salary dump. The Canucks take on about $3.7M, but they can afford to take that on hoping Havlat can remain somewhat healthy. All players are on one year deals.

We might as well send the negotiating rights to Cliff Ronning and Kirk McLean while we're at it.

I can't see his value being very high, but I'd take him on Vancouver if it's a salary dump.

I'd imagine some kind of conditional pick, like a conditional 2nd would do it. Based on games played or points or whatever.

His value is zero. I can't imagine getting anything back at all.

You think Havlat's value is going to be any higher than a salary dump? This way the Hawks get a decent player in Pyatt in return and also shed a good amount of salary.

that would be hard to do...not many teams can afford to take on a 6 million cap hit

As an Islanders fan i wouldn't mind us taking a shot at him(if he is cheap enough). We could use a little star power at front and if we out of the playoff race(very likely) we could get a great offer for him at the trade deadline(making up what we gave for him)

His value certainly isn't zero. When he does play he's a point per game player. The only major concern is health.

I would think Vancouver and Atlanta would have a lot of interest and the cost would probably be a pick (2nd rounder) and prospect.

Edmonton would be interested but only if they could work out a trade to rid themselves of Roloson's 3.667M cap hit.

Havlat is a point per game guy. On Pgh, he might up that, all he needs to do is stay healthy.

I would hate him in a Habs uniform. Though he does have a residence in Montreal during the offseason...

Which is easier said then done in terms of Havlat.

Yeah...i could see a 3rd and conditional (games played) pick going to Chicago.

Uhh, yeah no. Way too much to give up for an overpaid, injury-prone player who should be had for much less.
