Denis Bodrov

When Jagr signed with Avangard Omsk Flyers may have received an unexpected benefit. Denis Bodrov - Flyers D prospect was told NOT to show up (team would be over budget, not cap) in camp. He is considering suing Omsk, since he had a signed contract with them. If he does not end up in Omsk this season, he will be in Philadelphia for the pre-season camp. PLEASE, do not ask for source. Can not disclose.

That sucks that one of the greatest to ever play the game is leaving the NHL. That's a damn travesty to be honest. Say what you want about Jagr, but he was everything that Lindros was supposed to be minus the mean streak. He had the size, skating and scoring ability and while people may think he's nothing but a moody floater who only plays when he wants, I'll remember a highly skilled Czech who won two Stanley Cups and carried a franchise on his back in Pittsburgh before having his heart broken and being dealt to Washington. I think if Jagr stayed in Pittsburgh, he probably would have been the 2nd highest scorer in NHL history.

I was hoping he'd go to Detroit to help make an even more super team.

Courier Post - June 17, 2008In addition to the trade and free-agent markets, there is a third option the Flyers are exploring. Holmgren believes defensive prospect Denis Bodrov is ready to play in the NHL if the Flyers can pry him away from Russia.

If what FeedDaPuck say is true, we could have a good defensive defenseman prospect challenging for a spot on the team

P.S. Bye Jagr

Great talent... If he was North American he would be compared to a lot of great players. Thats all I have to say. I always liked him and hated when we played against him.

The thread was locked... for a reason... Treat this as a "rumor"... But... Check my accuracy on other "prospect" related threads... Anyway, this is not about Jagr... Another Rag changed a team. Those of you with "soft" comments - how did Lindros work out for us? Jags - lazy talented guy - with an incredible talent... Let's leave it at that.

Denis Bodrov - average in the Russian Leagues - why? He can NOT use his strength - physical play. Smart defensively... Can "kill" people. GREAT positioning. If he comes over - one of our Dmen MAY become expandable...Russian Hatcher who can actually skate.

Mods - THANKS! (Will clear next threads prior to posting!)

Is Hatch,Smith and Parent 3 of them? _ BL - You know that our D is NOT deep - see 2008 playoffs... If Bodrov can provide what he has shown in the past - i.e. hitting, physical play, defensive awareness with a skating ability, I think he can potentially be our top four guy... Again, this might be a stretch - but given Flyers success with Euro prospects - Bodrov showing up in NA for anything - might be a step forward in his development and in Flyers handling of those prospects. That said, wake up, some of our Dmen do NOT belong in the NHL...

That's about right. When he cranked up his engine he was a handful.
