Is there a bonus max for entry level contracts??

Everyone mentions how Atlanta and LA need to get over the floor. So let's say Atlanta signs Bogosian and he makes the team. Because of the CBA provision and the full bonus counting for this year, can't he just have his typical 6-figure base salary and have a bonus up to like 5 million??
Therefore, the Thrashers only have to pay him about a million but, his cap number is 5.
I believe that's how it works. They were mentioning Weight's contract with the Islanders - his base is just over 1 million with bonuses that can take it to just over 4 million. They said the cap hit would be 4 million. I think you'll see a lot of teams who are close to the floor do this to get above it.

There is a max. Bonuses are split into two types. The maximum overall would be $2.85M in bonuses. You can find out the details here.

I really wish you had a source. If Lowe does this he would be imediatly accepted in the Hall of fame.

Vermette, Neil, prospect and a 1st?

ours would be Nilsson/Cogliano, Pisani/Cole, Trukhno, 1st?

We'd have to base it around a defenseman (Smid, Staios, Souray, Grebs) instead of forwards IMO.

I suspect this will be something the NHLPA will address at the next CBA session. Seems like kind of a slimy way to get above the salary floor, and plays into the NHLPA's argument that some teams don't give two hoots about paying the players what they deserve.

I think more like this as he has 2 years left on a steal of a deal.

Cogliano
Smid
Schremp
1st 09
1st 10
Brodziak perhaps?

That puts the Thrashers a year or two ahead on the prospect refill while putting 4 guys on the ice this year. Plus Schremp and Cogs might actually put some butts in the seats.
I'd do it.

As was said on the first page, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a trade to shed some payroll. Maybe Roli? Would Lowe trade Pisani?

I'd assume the team would want to clear some more payroll off the books before making a trade or signing a big name.

It's kind of mislead for that guy to post it in the Rumours section. It isn't a rumour at all. It's just him throwing ideas around.

Yes, I would rather get JDD his playtime now, so that IF Garon doesn't resign in Edmonton, we are not scrambling for a goalie or two in the years we should be peaking.

Yes, and just as important, it would give Dubnyc number 1 time in the AHL.

If Jay Bo is seriously available, Lowe needs to make sure Martin hears us out this time.

I would start with Grebeshkov + Penner for Jay Bo.

If that goes through, then I would sign Demitra to a 1-year deal. Re-up Jay Bo at 5-6 years at $6.5 per.

Funny thing is - we have the cap space!!!

I'd hate to give up Penner, but for Bouwmeester (even though he's overrated) - sure!

Jay bo would be brilliant.

Grebs, Schremp, Chorney, Cogs, they are rebuilding they might be open to this type of package. Would be amazing to see him here.
