Bouwmeester is a playoff jinx. He has only ever made the post season once in his career since he was 16 yrs old. Never made it in Medicine Hat, has never made it in Florida. The only playoff experience he has is the lockout year when he joined the Chicago Wolves mid season. To think if it wasn't for the lockout he would still be without a single playoff game in his career. Including Juniors. What would be even funnier is if he joined the Sens and they missed the playoffs this year. As a habs fan that would be great.
Yah.. he sucks.. only won World Champioship and Olympic Gold. Real choker
And what I'm trying to point out is that even with his 90 points, we still lost more than we won!
and the team around him when he scored 90 points was the same team it is now? we had auld/belfour in goal that year. booth wasn't the player he is now. no mclean, zednik, kreps wasn't the player he is now.
not to mention we've added ballard, stillman since last year.
honestly, what are you trying to prove here? your points are incoherent and carry no merit.
Wait! He actually declined Foligno being added and said he was open to using Lee???
If he's declining putting Nick Foligno in a trade, he better be declining putting Brian Lee in one. Lee is a far better prospect at a more important position.
Its a good thing Florida doesn't trade with Vancouver anymore. The Canucks fleeced them by getting Jovanovski and Luongo. Even though Bure had back to back 50 goal seasons, he was pretty much done after the third year..
As a Panthers fan I would do the Bure trade every time. I don't consider that a fleecing at all.
that's probably the dumbest comment i've heard in a while. take out the 7 game stretch out of the season? how about we take out the 7 game stretch the week or two before that where olli had 15 points or so...what would his stats look like then?
i like olli, honestly, i do, but just because he's out the door doesn't mean we can't compete...and the march run proved it. we played our best hockey when he was playing his worst. hell, he was on our third line half of the month, wasn't he?
i'm not saying we're a lock for the playoffs...not at all...but to write the panthers off or say they're a lock for tavares simply because olli is in phoenix...well, it's just idiotic.
That's not what I'm saying though. Look at the last couple years. We ALWAYS play our best in March, it had nothing to do with the way Jokinen was playing this season.
But look at when Jokinen actually IS producing, earlier on in the season. Also look at the games that Jokinen didn't score in. We definitely did not win enough of them to make the playoffs.
Looking at a 7 game stretch and saying "see we can score" does not mean we can actually score! It proves nothing. I'm not saying Jokinen is needed for us to win. All I'm saying is that claiming we can win games without him based on a 7-game streak is not valid.
If I'm Ottawa, I'd send a better current impact proposal in Meszaros + Vermette and let them combo with a pick in compensation or a prospect.
I'd be willing to pay more than that to get my fav. dman (after Neids whose just about on his way out) in Ottawa.
Please Murray, this is your ultimate opportunity to trade a guy who was in your doghouse as coach while landing max value trading to the Panthers. When you hear the return Jokinen got, this is the prime time to acquire the young impact defenseman you wanted so dearly at the draft.

REGARDLESS, the point remains that they did it without jokinen. he was a non-factor. total nonfactor. and they won seven in a row and went like 10-2-1 in the month. you can't disprove that fact. period.

actually, it is valid because they did it. yes, early in the season we were not winning games but it wasn't because of olli, it was because the team wasn't playing well. defensively, offensively, nothing.
we won the games in march because the team played well. olli did not. but the team did. it's not basketball, remember?

They are CAPABLE of winning games on their own, absolutely. The seven games do prove that.
But a 7-game win streak is not a precursor to a winning season next year. As you said, the entire team has to play well, especially at the beginning of the season. The 7-game win streak says nothing about that, though.
I'm not saying the value isn't there, because Vermette is being under rated here, and I'm not saying they're not idiots because well, past trades could be offered to the contrary.
Florida shouldn't do this for the simple reason that it sends the wrong message. It tells it's players and it's fans that they're not interested in winning.
Sure, you can trade amazing players for marginal pieces (see Havlat, Luongo, Olli, etc..) when the justification is there, but no re-signing Bouwmeester just makes management look inept in my opinion

in case you just started following, the *only* reason they would do this is if jay has refused to resign. there are rumors that he is not happy in FL. if that is the case (nobody's seen or heard any concrete evidence either way), JM obviously has to move him while he can.
What? Offer that to Florida after they get Vermette, Neil ect? Why, we bolstered out offense by way giving up defense already, no need to do it again.
Or are you talking about Bouwmeester? I would do that, but Florida really wants forwards.
no we don't. if jay's going one way, we need a solid return on D coming the other way first and foremost - take jay out of the equation and the defense is a major question mark next year. we may get an F (among other things) as well but, imo, JM would not be looking to trade D for O right now.

Oh yeah, because Horton and Stillman are going to destroy the SE. If those guys struggle, we also have Gregory Campbell. Man, this team is looking sick
