Oilers interested in Teemu Selanne

On Team 1260 in Edmonton, they were talking about Burke and at one point Bob Stauffer asked Kevin Lowe if he had thought of getting Selanne, Lowe responded with 'Would it surprise you if I had already put in that call?'

I think Teemu Selanne could be a good fit with Edmonton And I would love to see that signing for so many reasons.

Well I'll imagine quite a few teams are/were interested in Selänne, but I very much doubt he'd go to Edmonton. Even though he has his Stanley Cup title I doubt he'll want to play for a team like Edmonton. For a player of Selänne's calibre he hasn't won an awful lot, he's used to tripping on the finishline and very rarely being with winners, so I think he'll try going for a SC-team.

which one is that again? and why are you even paying attention to the sport if you already know who is going to win in the playoffs?

which teams are the SC teams? its not the ducks. sharks? choke. detroit? sure, when Dallas does all the hard work for you. pittsburgh? the eastern conference was a joke. let me know when you have it figured out so you can go bet some big time money on it before the season starts.

Would never happen and it has nothing to do with what other teams have to offer (eg. the Blues with MacDonald and Kariya) and everything to do with not being Anaheim. It is his home (other than Finland).

It's hilarious how fans still think that there is no way a UFA will sign in Edmonton when the Oilers almost nabbed Marian Hossa and would've had Jagr if they offered more than a 1 year deal. Man, there are some incredibly ignorant and naive people on these boards. It's even more of a laugh coming from fans of other Canadian teams because as we all know Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Calgary have all signed superstar free agents over the last decade.

It has nothing to do with the fact its Edmonton, but the fact that Selanne has been saying for the last three years its Anaheim or retirement.

This is why we think that, straight from the players mouth:

Quote:
To what city would you least like to be traded?
1) Buffalo Sabres (40) 16%
2) Edmonton Oilers (28) 11.2%
3) New York Islanders (24) 9.6%
4) Pittsburgh Penguins (18) 7.2%
5) Florida Panthers (17) 6.8%
6) Carolina Hurricanes and St. Louis Blues (13) 5.2%
7) Washington Capitals (12) 4.8%
8) New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers (9) 3.6%
9) Columbus Blue Jackets and Montreal Canadiens (8) 3.2%
10) Calgary Flames (7) 2.8%
11) Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings (6) 2.4%
12) Nashville Predators (5) 2%
13) Los Angeles Kings and Ottawa Senators (4) 1.6%
14) Philadelphia Flyers and Phoenix Coyotes (3) 1.2%
15) Atlanta Thrashers, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks and Toronto Maple Leafs (2) 0.8%
16) Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning (1) 0.4%
I am pretty sure any player would consider Edmonton when offering them a guaranteed 81 million dollars in their career.

I will guarantee you this right now.

Ice water will be served in hell before Selanne plays for the Edmonton Oilers.

Right, because being born in Helsinki, where the weather is comparable to Edmonton, makes it such a stretch that he wouldn't mind Edmonton weather.

Yet they didn't get these players, so how does that prove a UFA will sign in Edmonton?

Agents will sometimes negotiate with teams, even though a client may not end up there, just to drive up the offers/prices for that player.

So it doesn't bother you Hossa rejected a long term deal, with alot of money to take a one year offer from Detroit?

Thank god Daryl Katz owns the team now. I could care less what a random survey says, what I do know is that Edmonton has been making major strides since July 1st, not only as an organization but as a city to the players.

I don't put any stock into someones opinion that has never been to this city, ala the majority of the kids on HFboards who try to bash Edmonton at every opportunity.

Burke would never try to sign a sissy like Nylander in the first place..

Maybe you should give team 1260 a listen sometime. That's all I'll say. Obviously you're not up to date with the facts straight out of the horses mouth. How's that Sundin signing proceeding?

He wants a Stanley Cup, what's wrong with that? I admire it and wish more players were like that. Edmonton is nowhere as good as Detroit right now as a team.
