Cammy out as well. I would add "building" worst defense in the league

Also added Helminen, a great depth player. He may even make the 4th line OVER Sutter this season, if we dont resign Larose

EDIT: This topic is laughable. Just because a team doesnt make many moves, or any moves at all, doesnt mean it wont be better. Sometimes, a team doesnt need to add anyone, or subtract anyone, it just needs to work harder AS a team. Maybe their organization feels that way, and is looking to give the team as is another shot. In addition, not all acquisitions to HELP a team have to be of a known great player. Hell, some of the worst acquisitions were of known great players. Think about it. In Carolina's case, we made an acquisition last season for Corvo and Eaves. Lots of crap talked about Corvo, yet he was incredible for the team. We were told we got fleeced giving up Commy and Stillman for Corvo and Eaves, but now look: We still have Corvo under contract, and Eaves resigned here, but Commodore and Stillman BOTH are already gone from Ottawa. I wonder who won THAT trade. We picked up Samsonov off waivers, and we were given hell. Then he scored 32 points in 38 games to finish the season with Carolina after coming over (.84 ppg). Yeah.....that was a crap acquisition *rolls eyes*

Point being, dont knock on teams' acquisitions until you see the outcome.

No reason to add anyone. Our biggest problem last season was lack of a backup goalie (Hannu stunk after December and Legacy had to carry the ball - now we have Mason). Both Stempy and PK both had off years, PK only had 16 goals - he should be good for 25 or so.

Right now the Blues have room for Oshie, Berglund, and either Lemy or Porter. They are going w/ the kids. Chicago did that last year and so did Edmonton - both teams gave their kids a lot of solid experience and growth and they will be much better for it this year.

I guess my point is, would you rather be paying Hainsey 5 million a year (would be the highest paid dman on the team) or give a legit shot to Wagner/Woywitka/Polak. Sign Morrison or give Berglund a shot to earn his spot.

Neither player would make the Blues into any more of a playoff contender - so you might as well see what the kids can do.

Well said. We didn't lose anyone significant to free agency this year, and have 4 youngsters who are not longshots at being capable of playing a top 6 role next season in Berglund, Oshie, Perron and Stempniak. Add Kariya, Tkachuk, Boyes and MacDonald to that, and there should be no problem with scoring depth up front.

I believe management would have liked to add a player like Hainsey or Liles, but for what they were willing to spend, they could have only gotten Finger or Commodore.

very true i think he and gelason will form a great combo, if they get put together which they should. Then again they really dont have anyone else to speak of so mabe JP 1st pairing, TG second painring.

haha no doubt lol

Seriously if you look at it with open eyes, the Canucks have made there team a hell of a lot tougher they rounded out the bottom 6 added a PK specialist (Johnson) Bernier finally gives the Sedins a legit winger, we still have all our D the best goalie in the world and we have only lost Nazzy and Mo, so basically just Nazzy because Mo wasn't around much last year. Plus we still have 13 million to spend and thats with Sundin's 10 million put aside you just wait and see what the Canucks do.

Completely off base. All the Kings have to do to reach the cap floor is re-sign their RFA's.

Kings defensemen under contract right now:Jack Johnson (11 points), Tom Preissing (24 points) and Matt Greene (1 point). Jason LaBarbera is the #1 goalie right now. Basically an expansion team from the D back.

Where have you been?

The canes changed their whole backend.
They traded Cole for Pitkanen. Signed Babchuk and Melicar. And in the process of moving one of Kaberle or Wallin.

Not to mention they locked up their guy Gleason for the next 4 years. And got Cam a back up.

But your right they did nothing. Maybe not on the offense side of things but if you knew anything about the team you would know we didn't need to sign forwards as we have: Staal, Brind'Amour, Williams, Ruutu, Eaves, Whitney, Walker, Samsonov and Cullen all locked up.

No way Gleason goes from being our best defenseman to playing on the second pairing. He and Pitkanen will play together no doubt and will log a ton of minutes.

You can pretty much set it in stone that the Canes 1st pairing is Gleason/Pitkanen. Its already been said by Rutherford. Both guys will log 20-22 minutes per night guaranteed.

and to pipe in IMO still have a decent team. I can see and for that matter do see making the playoffs(look at Car and TB weren't close to the ceiling if I recall) then really get the commitment from management to go on a real playoff push/run that hasn't been done since 92' correct?

i thought so but I do actually following the canes, i do like for some reason, but sometimes they seperate their best D-men for some reason(not most teams but some do. My first thought was that they would be together. I just wasnt privey or looked at Rutherford said.

I agree, and think he has a good chance to make the team this year. He looked great in the recent prospects camp and I think JD and company is pretty high on him. I think he will be like Hinote, but with more size and toughness.
