Remember the 1993 All-Star Weekend?

With this year's All-Star Weekend and game in Montreal,

I'd like to talk about the 1993 edition, which took place at le Forum.

(BTW, only two members of that year's Cup Champs made the team- Saint Patrick and Captain Kirk- I thought Damphousse was a BIG snub)

Any of you remember that, whether you saw it on T.V. or went to that old building?

Remember the Superskills (I think we can still see Iafrate firing...)

And of course, I'm sure you remember that ridiculously high-scorng game with 16 goals for the winning Wales (That was the twilight of the super-charged-scoring era of hockey, so it was only fitting).

Any chance this year ASG Eastern starting line up will be:

Alex Tanguay - Saku Koivu - Alexei Kovalev
Andrei Markov - Mike Komisarek
Carey Price

I know, it will be impossible to have such starting line-up with Crosby and Ovechkin in the East, but who knows, if they make a big publicity campaign, I hope we can have 2-3 Habs on the starting line up (Kovalev/Koivu, Markov and Price).

Seriously, did you even watch Koivu or Tanguay play last year?...Them making the all star team would be a joke...

I'm pretty confident that Markov will make it, not sure about anyone else...I can see Komisarek getting in if he steps it up...I think Price and Halak will be sharing the duty in net so Price might not have as many games under his belt to be considered a top 3 goalie in east...If Kovalev continues his play from last season then he should get in, I thought he sort of got snubbed last season...

Starting line-up is voted by fans, and since this year ASG will be held in Montreal, I think Koivu might be voted in. He is also very popular around the league. I don't know what you have against him, but he wasn't that bad last season.

P.S.: I just noticed that you are the same guy who said Koivu should **** off if he wants 4M+ next season.

exactly...voted in by fans from all around the world, not just montreal...do you seriously think people from everywhere will try to vote for the Habs players just cuz the game is here?...I doubt it...

I hope not anyways, I don't wanna see this get turned into the mlb all star game where it doesn't matter if you're deserving or not, but as long as you play for the yanks or bosox, you're in.

YES!

2006-2007 ASG in Buffalo

East

Daniel Briere #48 Buffalo Sabres Center
Brian Campbell #51 Buffalo Sabres Defense
Ryan Miller #30 Buffalo Sabres Goalie
Sidney Crosby #87 Pittsburgh Penguins Center
Alexander Ovechkin #8 Washington Capitals Left Wing
Sheldon Souray #44 Montreal Canadiens Defense
(Vanek was also in the top 10 for forwards as a "write-in")

If a city like Buffalo can have 3 players in the starting line-up in 07, I wonder why Montreal (biggest Hockey city in the world, much more fans around the world, population of 2M vs 300K for Buffalo, 100th anniversary) cannot have 3 players in their starting line-up.

That's even worse then. If the game was held in Buffalo, I think their whole team would be in the starting line-up. I gotta say that they had a very very good season that year, just like we'll be in 08-09.

I remember it very well. I was 17 and at the game and thanks to the linesman Gerry Gauthier, I played hockey with his older son and my brother his played with his other son, I got to go into the dressing rooms after the game. I still have signed cards from tons of players including Gretzky who I had a 15 minutes conversation with. Great day!!

I remember how amazed I was to see all those goals. I was 5 at the time and I LOVED Patrick Roy.

Anything is possible if Rory Fitzpatrick can get voted to the ASG.
