Maple Leafs Spelling Lessons

I hate when people try to discuss about the Leafs and try to act like they know what they are talking about but can't even spell their names correctly. It's seriously annoying. So here I go as I put on my Internet flame shield....

It's Alexei Ponikarovsky, not Ponikarovski. You use a ''Y'' at the end, not a ''I''

It's Bryan McCabe, not Brian McCabe. You use a ''Y'' in his first name, not an ''I''.

It's Doug Gilmour, not Doug Gilmore. This isn't Happy Gilmore with Adam Sandler folks, this is Doug Gilmour.

It's Anton Stralman, not Anton Strahman. It'll come around eventually.

It's Tomas Kaberle, not Thomas Kaberle. He's been on the Leafs for like over 10 years and is one of the top defenseman in the NHL. Spell his name right for pete's sake.

It's Jiri Tlusty, not Jiri Tluslty. And yes, he will send you naked pictures of himself through Facebook. I recommended you don't ask.

It's Nik Antropov, not Nik Andropov. Jesus people.

It's Wendel Clark, not Wendel Clarke. Stop adding the ''e'' at the end of his name, this is CLARK we're talking about.

Its Carlo Colaiacovo, not Carlo whateveryoutypeinsteadovo.

That is all. I'm going to head outside now.

Seriously, it may be a pet peeve, but posting it is not going to solve anything. Yeah, people should know how to spell the names, but it's an internet chat forum, do you really expect people to care about spelling that much?

Personally, I'll settle for Staal being spelled correctly.

With you cracking the whip for spelling their names incorrectly, and me cracking the whip when they make fun of their names, we'll have this board in check in no time.

This is going to be one grammatically correct and well behaved board before we're done with them.

Edit: You're lucky Don Cherry is not on this board. Him spelling Ponakahoski & Andrapov would drive you bonkers.

Good luck with trying to get people on a hockey discussion forum to care about spelling names correctly. Most semi-literates haven't figured out the difference between

two, to and too.

Can't get their melons around the usage of there, their and they're

and can't comprehend that lose and loose are two different words.

People seem to have some sort of mental issue with that name. It's a very easy name to spell and there is three guys in the NHL with the exact same last name but no, their names are ''Stall'' around here.

I already see a ton of Leafs fans here spelling it Grabovsky.

That Leif Ericson sounds like a gipsy country singer, not that there's anything wrong with that. LOL

Even the most intelligent people on our planet are not perfect and could potentially misspell a word or two.

I bet if you were to take scouting sheets from scouts across the NHL you would find a plethora of spelling mistakes and are you going to tell me you wouldn't take their assessments of a player seriously because they were not quite sure how to correctly spell the players name?

Well said!

Although I know what the OP is sort of referring to, this is a message board.

There's no message board void of spelling mistakes cause it's on the fly.
