Atlanta- Chicago

Atlanta as of right now is not a good team but they do have some good young players

1st proposed trade

Armstrong, Havelid, Perrin and Holzapfel, to Chicago for
Lang and Havlat,

It free up some payroll for Chicago (roughly 5M to sign a left-wing UFA and maybe Jason Williams if he agrees to a 2M contract, team chemistry is important

Armstrong should be able to play as the 2nd line right-wing
Perrin showed he is able to play as a top 6 forward (could be used in case of injury, other wise let him play on the 4th line)
He plays with heart every night

I read somewhere that Chicago wanted a vet D-Man
Havelid is a very capable D-man.
He has 550 NHL games of experience and since the 02 season he hasn't missed more that 5 games in a season.

Holzapfel is a very good young center.
center is the one spot where Atlanta has some depth

Here is the rest of my pipedream
With the signing of Lang, Atlanta is able to convience Jagr to come play in Atlanta
I don't think a 2 year deal at 5M per season is too much for a player like Jagr ... plus since he is over 35 can't the contract be an incentive based contract.

Just look at the top lines
Kovalchuk-Lang-Jagr
Kozlov-Little-Havlat

I have to say I think that is a very solid top 6
I know the D has to be addressed as well but I really those lines

Chicago doesn't need any defenseman! None, nada, zip, zilch. Stop offering them in trades, they have too many to play as it is.

That's quite an overhaul there.

im gonna assume u missed the part were Jagr signed in Russia and said his tiem in teh NHL is over...other than that though im not sure where ATL gets the center depth at since at the moment they have no #1 or #2 center to speak of

Why would a rebuilding team like Atlanta want to trade away young guys like Holzapfel for a old guy like Lang?

Plus Havlat is probably close to being an UFA. Moving Havlide makes little sense as well since ATL needs all the D they can get and CHI is strong at that position.

Consider yourself lucky if you get anything more than a 3rd round pick + a below average prospect for Havlat. Not one team should hand over any quality assets for the 6 Million Dollar Glass Man.

I guess after Coburn for Zhitnik, people must think Waddell enjoys grabbing his ankles.

I don't think Holzapfel's going anywhere.

Just being mentioned in this trade proposal tore Havalt's ACL.

This trade does nothing to help the Thrashers now, or 3-4 years from now.

If the Blackhawks want to dump salary, we have 2nd and 3rd round picks to send back.

So 3 of the few players on the Atlanta roster worth keeping, along with one of its top prospects, for an old man and a guy that averages about 30 games a season? I think I'll pass...

You don't need to send that much over maybe one player and a pick.

Both have very low value. I do agree Atlanta and Chicago make good trading partners right now.

more like Havlat for a 5th rounder. Sheesh. Havlat is great if you have stock in hospitals and physical therapy.

and I'd trade my grandmother for Lang. She may be younger tho.

Chicago is over a barrel and over budget. They aren't dealing from a position of strength on this one.

This deal is so bad for Atlanta, they are in total rebuilding mode and are goign to suck badly next year.

I disagree. I don't want any of those guys on the Hawks. Khabibulin is the one that has to go.

Atlanta looks at any deal with Chicago and says "You should have bought out Havlat before you swooped in an nabbed Campbell from us. We're certainly not going to help you with your cap issues now."

I don't know why Paradox continually thinks Atlanta is going to be terrible next year. The defense is going to be much improved and we got rid of almost all of our deadwood and we've got a bunch of solid young forwards coming in and no more completely inept coaching from either Hartley or McCrimmon (dump and chase on the PP? Are you kidding me? - they both did this regularly!)

Not sure this makes a difference but, Lang did score 60 last year...How many not named Kovalchuk did that in ATL??

I think it's because we made him look silly on our boards when he kept boasting about how bad it is to have tons of borderline players becoming UFAs after next season.

Let's not exaggerate, he only scored 54. The answer to your question remains zero, though.

Dale Tallon may not be dealing from a position of strength but he'll waive Khabibulin and bury him in Rockford before he bends over to pay someone to take Havlat.

I'd trade Havlat for any decent forward as of right now....he's too unreliable....and his shoulder seems like it will never leave im alone.....

If I'm ATL, I go for Mike Knuble before I try to get Havlat. Knuble is much less expensive, less injury prone, and would be a much better match opposite of Kovalchuk

However, I wouldn't at all be surprised if the Thrash end up with Havlat. I wouldn't mind so much, as we are desperate for a RW who can play on the top line this year. If he gets hurt, it's really not a big deal b/c he's on the last year of his contract.

I second the motion to acquire Knuble, and urge the Speaker to strike all previous remarks concerning one Mr. Havlat from the record.
