The Sharks need someone to play pattycake and hopskotch and catfighting with Avery and Ott on Dallas, who is out there that is capable of performing this menial task?

How about San Jose just signs someone like Krys Barch or something instead of paying assets and money for something you shouldn't be paying assets for.

Cowan is an enforcer. Burrows is an example of an agitator, although I'm sure Avery would kick his ass.

Shelley, Clowe, Murray, Blake, Thornton?

I highly doubt Ott is planning on screwing with the Sharks any time soon. Especially when Big Joe is on the ice.

I said "available" as in either trade or FA. Barch is not an agitator, he's just a fighter who has no hockey skill and can't play more than a few minutes a game.

Ott screws with everyone...if he gets smashed in a fight or by a hit in one game, he'll be right back getting in that guys face the next night, if it benefits the team...

Counting Clowe and Goc we have 12 forwards out of 14 spots. Shelley and possibly Goc will be the normal healthy scratches, so we need two more forwards at least one of them being a regular in the lineup. That game when Thornton beat up on Ott was the meaningless final game of the season and it's not worth having your top guys take penalties because of Avery and Ott's annoying antics.

LOL no Bertuzzi is a lazy bum, ask any Ducks fans they'll tell you he made the team worse with his lazy attitude, plus he will probably want like 2M which is more than he's worth at this point.

A) Barch is signed for the next 2 seasons
B) He has some hockey skill
C) The entire point of Ott screwing with the Sharks is for when Thornton is on the ice. Still haven't figured that out?

More of a bulldog fight that a catfight, but Neil is a guy to get. With Tucker to the rocky-mounts and Avery a Dallas cheerleader, the East is now a peace conference - go West young agitator. Also, for a UFA pickup, Emery is an excellent fighter and drives a mean hummer, albeit you would have to give him some ice time parked in goal.

what would the sharks give for scotty upshall or steve downie (hopefully no flyer's fans see this)...flyers would look for a puckmoving dman back

upshall - extreme agitator with lots of skill; dropped the gloves twice in the playoffs but probably won't see it much.

downie - public enemy #1; not as skilled as upshall but his skills get overlooked because of his rep; more likely to drop 'em w/ guys like avery, ott, or tucker and give them all that they can handle.

Well at least cheapo Rivet is not longer on SJ....

Ott serves his purpose well....How many minutes in penalties did Thornton get in that game? 19? 19 minutes without Thornton on the ice is good for us. Therefor Ott did his job! Ott will fight anyone but why not just sucker Tin Man into doing something stupid. I swear most of you Shark fans have no clue.

Enjoy you 2yr contract signing of the biggest wast of space in Jody Shelley.....

Dallas - Ott - Avery - Barch = SJ's death!

How about Chris Neil? With the addition of Ruutu I think Neil could be moved now.

If the rumours are correct and Murray is looking at McLaren how does a Neil for Mclaren swap sound?

after the rutuu signing, i'm afraid neil could be moved too.
I dont want it to happen, but i think he could be the ideal player moved to pick up a defensive salary dump a la mclaren, mckee, schneider, etc.

They have a lot of big bodies with the ability to take on agitators (Thornton, Shelley, Doug Murray...not anymore, but Alexei Semenov) so do they really need to waste space bringing in a Chris Neal or a Riley Cote?

The Blues went out of their way to acquire Cam Jannsen from New Jersey last year so I'm not sure they're looking to trade him. I don't really see much of a need for him since DJ King is already on the squad. Any interest in Jannsen?

I'd say SJ could take a risk and make a move for Sheldon Souray.

I'm positive Kevin Lowe wants to get rid of him, he knows Rivet well and is close friends with him. He's a defensive liability but he will fight from time to time, be a tough guy and could even bring some offense to the table, granted he's costly and injury prone but if it worked out it could be amazing.

You could get him for a pick as a salary dump for Edmonton.
