Dude, come on. How many people do you see wearing swastikas around town? You need guts of steel to do something like that.
I live in Montreal and have seen a few. I've been to the US heartland and yeah it's pretty normal.
Having a swastika doesn't necessarily mean that you're gonna go all final solution on everyone that crosses your path. The chances are much greater if you do have one, but it's not an automatic.
I find this pretty ridiculous, if her mom was advocating violence that'd be one thing. But being a white supremacist is believing that your race is better than everybody else. It's not really that different than religion where you believe your religion is the best and everyone else is ''inferior'' or ''damned'' because they don't believe.
I certainly don't condone racism, but the government should only step in if there is a feasible possibility of violence.
Or not in California. I see a swastika tattoo almost weekly. It's really not a big deal. If you would talk to these guys like they were anyone else you'll find they are pretty normal. Their extremist beliefs really don't come out and play in everyday life.
The majority are not like the characters you see in Higher Learning, or some bull, where they're depicted as brainless lugs with only one thing on their mind... killing people of other races.
I don't agree with their core beliefs but they can think however they want. Doesn't affect me.
the swastika symbol is seen negatively due to the Nazi's (rightfully so for what the Nazi's did). But if your research the origins of the swastika symbol is goes back way way further than when the nazi's started using it. We're talking in all probability of origins that date back thousands and thousands of years ago. Basically the swastika is a "sun cross". Meant to worship the sun and the life that the sun brings all living things. I do not condone that lady's beliefs but the symbol itself is surrounded by ignorance. What it represents to white supremacists or racists is a problem and is one of the reasons the symbol is vilified.
