Encore for Gator?

http://www.oilersnation.com/index2.p...tor/#more-2320

I think he could be a good gritty addition at the right price.

I'd love Gator back in copper and blue. We need his grit and leadership.

My only issue is his rumored +/- $2 mil price tag.

I'm all for it. Give him bottom pairing minutes, and PK time, and we'd be a better team for it. Him and Smid can switch in and out of the PB.

I'd love to have him back but, at what cost??

I don't mean $$ wise but, how bout the cost of stunting Smid and Peckam's growth?

Let's say he does come here.

Visnovsky-Souray
Grebeshkov-Gilbert
Staios-Smith
Roy

Smid in the minors?

What about trading "Sometime unsteady Steve"?

Breeze said today he expects Smith won’t take much longer to make a decision on where he’ll play this coming season. “I think we’re going to make a decision imminently,” Breeze said. “That’s all I can say. It will be very quickly.”

If Smith is OK coming back in a 5-6D/occasional PB role, I'd love the holy crap out of having him here.

Vishnovsky-Gilbert
Souray-Staios

Nah man. Guys like Staios and Moreau cannot be traded.
They are the heart and soul of the team.

Staios had his best year as an Oiler last year. It's not his fault he had to babysit Smid all year long.

Just keep in mind Roy is on a 1-way deal this year.
I think Lowe and MacT really like the guy so he's pretty much penciled in as the #7 guy.

If watching Smith in a 1D role was torture, watching him in a 5-6 role should be heaven. If hope he gets the captain's C back long before Ethan breaks something.

I doubt Roy can even hold a pencil after the hits he has taken in pretty much every NHL game he has played.

Gator's 2 Shoulder's > EMo's 1 Shoulder + leg, Souray's 1 Shoulder, Horcoff's 1 Shoulder, Greener's Ankle

Granted Staios and Moreau have a lot of heart and soul and Stevie stepped up as the unsung leader in EMo's absence but could it not also be argued that Gator was the heart and soul of the team when he was here?

Pardon my ignorance but what criteria are you using as a benchmark to Staios having his best year?

Found it on the Sens board, with a link to the Sens website. Nothing on T.S.N. or Sportsnet yet. What could be the holdup ?

2.6 cap hit for 2 years.

Too much for the role he would have had with the OIL
