What do you think you are to the Canucks?

An Analyst: See's things objectively it's usually NHL first Canucks second, you call things out when they're bad, and you will praise them when they are good. If the Canucks are bad you KNOW they wont win and will say it. If the Canucks are good you know they have a shot but you wont/can't be all over them and claiming you knew it all along.

A Fanatic: The typical CDC poster. Can't quite see things objectively and all you do is say how the Canucks are the best. You always praise the players and make claims to how they are best in the league. You may seem to disappear when the going gets tough, but some might describe you has merely having more love for thee team, you've done your homework. When things are good, you have all the proof to support how you knew it would be all along.

A Fan: You are kind of a mix of analysis and a fanatic. You can see things objectively. You know when we're good and you know when were bad. The one thing you have tho, is no matter how bad things get, you always believe this team can win and pull out the W when they need it. You never really get to a place where you're cynical and you will never be seen bashing your team saying how PO'd you are after a loss.

A Devil's Advocate
: You like when we're winning and you don't like when we're losing. But you insist on playing Devil's Advocate to keep things in perspective. You aren't quite a cynic (but on your path to being one) when things are good, and you aren't quite a fanatic (but darn close to it) when things are bad. But you will always posts opposite to what is the 'general' consensis to keep people thinking.

Tradition Bandwagoner: You don't really follow the team that much, when things are bad you aren't really cynical or anything because you just don't really follow the team that much. But when thins are new and exciting you help the city create a real buzz and cheer on this team.

New-Age Bandwagoner: You are the worst critic when things are bad, and you are the biggest fan when things are good. No pride being part of group, everyone looks down you guys.

A Cynic: You guys just stick around to bash this team. Maybe is some physcological downfall from having your heart broken by this team so many times but you always are cynical of the team. Good and bad, you know they will choke in the end. You have the best intentions. you really want them to win but you know better than to let yourself believe. You may sometimes lose it and make Random Bets promising to eat your shirt on YouTube if Naslund makes 4 million on his next contract.

Pure GM: All you can think of is how to improve this team. Off ice transactions are your mainstay. What happens on the ice is secondary as you know that it was these transactions that caused it.(weirdo's!) you know of all the trades, signings and stuff that would make this team better. You have an extensive knowledge of the CAP system and if you were put in as GM you would not be out of place and many posters look up to you and see you as one of the most knowledgable posters out there. You seriously are the cream of the crop in hockey knowledge as you can always identify best possible trades and fair value.

Someone advised a put in Devil's Advocate and I couldn't edit the poll. And since not TOO many people have voted, I created a whole new one.

wow this is a great thread so I have to reply. first reply in like 4 months or something haha. a rare post by a Lurker

I would say I'm a fan of hockey first and foremost, and then a fan of the Canucks and the rest of the NHL as well. I do not have a Canuck-centric view of the hockey world and consider myself quite well informed and can objectively evaluate the Canucks as a team. I read hf a lot but don't contribute very much to discussions. I don't agree with what a lot of people think nor I don't get too passionate over any arguments on here. I read the arguments from afar and make up my opinion without sharing it. The glass is always half full for me, but I am also realistic in assessing how far this team can actually go.

good thread!

I think I'm either a pure GM or an analyst....

I don't post here enough to get respect, nor do I have extensive knowledge of the cap, per your description, but I have an above average understanding of business and hockey ties. I cannot watch the on ice product as much anymore since I'm halfway around the world, but my friends and poolies I played with will probably say I'm have a good GM head. I am objective, so... I guess I'm an analyist too... except when it comes to Burke, I like that know-it-all SOB.

I think it's pretty fair to say we all have SOME parts of each group. It's just the group the represents you the best.

I am an analyst. I can be way too cynical at times to fit under your label of fan.

But I reserve the right to be a 100% new age bandwagoner in the GDT threads. If I don't vent like an idiot in there, I stay really angry for the rest of the night.

I also like to pick on certain players that anger me for small reasons and go after them maliciously in my posts. When push comes to shove I will admit they aren't as bad as I am making them out to be, but it makes me feel better, again, to vent my hatred of certain players.

Dan Cloutier, though, will always be as bad as I make him out to be.

Devil's advocate. And not just with the Canucks.

I'm told it can be very annoying.

I'd say you are a Pure GM. You knew the ins and outs of the team and you knew who would make perfect fits on each line.

If not, an analyst or a fan.

I guess that's a compliment given the description of a Pure GM. Only thing that gives me pause is not watching what's happening on the ice since it's the part I tend to focus on the most. I don't even post in the GDTs because I'm watching the game or am at the game. The rest of the description does seem to fit quite well, though.

I would categorize myself as equal parts Devil's Advocate and Pure GM but voted for the latter.

BTW - great thread.

Wow, I remember that thread. I think I was partially responsible for that thread. That was a stupid thread.

As for who I am to the Canucks?

WE ARE ALL CANUCKS! (You will be assimilated, resistance is futile)

Analyst or GM for me though I don't think many here look up to me (not that I value that kind of affirmation).

While my first Canucks season was 1979, I've never been a 'fan' or 'fanatic' as described here. Those folks drive me bonkers, even more so than bandwagoners. At least anyone on and off the bandwagon can claim to be right. Fans/fanatics are impossible to reason with and in my experience hard core apologists for bad management in particular. They believe when they ought not to and spend money when they should withhold it. They preach patience even if there is seven or right years of obvious unaddressed issues with a team. They are in short, the bane of my existence on HFboards. As soon as I identify someone as such I don't waste time debating with them. The Canucks can do no wrong.

At some point I may be a cynic, but that won't have anything to do with the team, but moreso having to deal with 'fans/fanatics'.

I'm an analyst, which by logical extension means that I end up being a cynic.
