Give him Jokinen's spot on the third line as a winger, so you can use him on the PP. Keep Stamkos.

OK, so this is just some anonymous blogger I take it? I was just wondering because a lot of legit journalists have blogs nowadays & it's hard to tell who's associated with what.

Not to say I have a problem with that, our new owners are broadcasting every move to the entire world so who's to say they haven't told this dude.

Uh, maybe because you weren't on these boards yet. Just be happy Dallas soon realized their mistake & let someone else toss big bucks at him. Someone mistaking me for a Pens fan is really bizarre, btw. Guess the blond kid in my avatar isn't that recognizable yet.

What i did lol about is the fact that you singed Recchi to a 1yr deal worth 2 million and they waived him. Then he was picked up by atlanta and showed he still has some left. In Atlanta he has 12 goals and 28 assists. I think that if you had him the chances of you beating Detroit could of been better.
Recchi did well in Atlanta because they're pretty much an AHL team. Pens had no room for him on their roster.

I read TIOPS for entertainment purposes, and most of the stuff they've said has made sense.

But I don't like having to package a pick or Scuderi with Sydor to move him. I don't think Sydor + a 3rd or Sydor + Scuderi is all that valuable, and I'd rather just take a 4th than whatever crap prospect we'd get in return.

I don't know why I feel the need to point this out, but with all the "Tampa Bay Penguins" jokes making the rounds, the five former Pens on the Lightning roster is only one more than the four former Hurricanes. If they sign Jeff O'Neill or Marek Malik next, we're all tied up.

Of course, it helps that Roberts and Recchi count for both of us.

I think the ex-Pens get more attention because they were collected in such short order. With the exception of Ouellet, they've all been acquired in the last few days.

Pascal Dupuis was a 3rd liner on Atlanta, and he was moved up to the 1st line with Pittsburgh after he was traded.

Calling the Thrashers an AHL team is a bit much.

I am just glad someone else is finally cornering the market on former Pens.

Weak point. One could argue that if he was playing with an AHL calibre team his performance would've been worse.

All 4 Pens were with the Penguins last season.

If you want to get really technical, TB has 4 Flyers too - Recchi, Prospal, Picard & Kiskala.

Why would the Penguins package Scuderi with Sydor in order to dump his salary cap hit? They can just waive him and send him to the AHL.

True. There just wasn't really a place on the Pens at that time for Rex.

Over 35 rule, his salary would still count.

If he refused to report, they could LeClair him.

Not too bad, but they need to improve their center depth first.
The only line combos in the world where you can put Vinny on the third line and not be called completely nuts.

Naw, he ain't a legit journalist - I actually have no idea what his credentials are. Like I said though, hes been right before, but I'd take it with a big grain of salt.

They'll be a team that needs some depth defensively and wants to fill it with a vet, so somebody will pick up Sydor, they only got to pay him for 1 more year anyway and you could do worse with a minor leaguer that just isn't ready or good enough.

over 35 rule applies to trying to send players to the minors as well.

As far as I know, we'd still pay Sydor if he was in the AHL, but we'd lose the cap hit...Alex Mogilny style.

All Player Salary and Bonuses earned in a League Year by a Player who is in the second or later year of a multi-year SPC which was signed when the Player was age 35 or older (as of June 30 of the League Year in which the SPC is to be effective), but which Player is not on the Club's Active Roster, Injured Reserve, Injured Non Roster or Non Roster, and regardless of whether, or where, the Player is playing, except to the extent the Player is playing under his SPC in the minor leagues, in which case only the Player Salary and Bonuses in excess of $100,000 shall count towards the calculation of Averaged Club Salary;
so yeah, Sydor would count if he played in WBS

Calling Dupuis a 1st liner in Pittsburgh is nice in name but outside of hot streak right after the trade, he was just a warm body that could keep up with Hossa and Crosby. I will be very disappointed if he plays on the top 2 lines next season.

So what was the deal with Mogilny? I remember he spent an entire year basically retired but was officially assigned to the AHL.
