I'd guess 10th in the West. In the Division we'll finish ahead of St. Louis. I still think Nashville finishes ahead of us this year.

I went 9th and figured we'd edge out Nashville.

Flyers Fan here. I just gotta say wow! This team should now be something overnight. The only move I am not so hi on is Zherdev, I always liked him, Now he's with trhe Rangers I will have to watch him play against the Flyers. Don't worry about RJ, he's not a flash in the pan, I was sick hearing the John Druce and Fernando Passini somparisons. Fact is that guy works like a horse in the off season. I have no doubt he will raise his game even higher this offseason. And with steady linemates and put him on a position and keep im there he wuill be my hockeypool sleeper for sure. Anyway you guys must be pretty stoked. Your goaltending is solid and now you built out. You will be scary team to play IMO. How do you guys feel about your team next year?

Depending on who you ask, we are either

1.) A lock for the playoffs

2.) Maybe a playoff team

3.) A lock for dead last

I am still nervous about this season. We'll be better, but I don't know if we will be better enough to make the play-offs.

I look for us to be a lock for 09-10 when Brass and Voracek have a season of NHL under their belts, and Filatov is on the team, but 08-09 to me is just an outside shot. Not impossible, but the stars will need to be aligned right for it to happen.

I still think it will really be a fun season, though, and we will be right there all season.

Look, I didn't vote, but this stuff about we're not sure if Huselius is going to make Nash better stuff has gotta stop. I realize he played with Iggy in Cal-GAR-y, but who's to say Nasher isn't going to make Juice better?

Best case scenario for the Jackets is around 6th place, which I could see happening if all the stars align. I don't want to think about the worst case scenario.

7th-10th, give or take. I think we may have a shot, but we're not a guarantee to see the second season.

What I'm keeping in mind is that we were arguably a healthy Freddy Modin & a conscious David Vyborny away from the playoffs last year (106 pts between them in 06-07). Modin's reportedly in good shape, Umberger & Huselius are bound to put up numbers, the feeling around here seems to be that Voracek will make the roster and do well (if he doesn't, we'll be hurting). And Howson may still have a couple people he's looking to trade for.

Let's just hope we don't shut down after the ASG again & we might have a chance.

3) Improved play from Leclaire who is coming off an incredible season

Hope you're right!
streaky or not, he is better than anything Nash has ever played with. that goes for Umberger as well.

look how many points Peca had last year and he was our 3rd leading scorer. break-out doesnt have to be 60 pts like i think some think on here.

i dont think we need improved play from Leclaire. we need improved play from Norrena. he was terrible.

EDIT - see LsquaredCBJ said some of this already.

Modin and Norena are the keys, imo. Everyone is so focused on the rookies, but i think the 2 vets are keys to our season. Norena was BAD last season and Modin was hurt. If Modin can come back and give us an avg. year (for him) and Norena can give us an avg year we greatly improve without anything else improving/changing.

9-10 88 points...

But again...a favorable schedule, strong home schedule early in the season and keeping the injury bug away might buy the team the 4 more wins to hit the 8th spot.

I'll do what I did last year and what the teams do...break the schedule into a 8 series of 10 games and hope they can take 12-14 points per series. 60% of your total points gets you to the playoffs.

I think they'll finish 3rd in the Central, not sure of overall standing. If they can't get another center and/or Brassard doesn't work out, I'm thinking 10th or 11th in the West. That's to say, best team we've ever had, but still not good enough

I think they can surprise a lot of people this year; the Central will be a complete dogfight though, where any one team hitting a streak can mean disaster.

And if we just stay competitive with Nashville and win half those games we are much closer to the playoffs than some think. The key is not only to gain points, but keeping points away from other teams. Those 14 or 15 points we surrendered to Nashville sure make a difference when they make the playoffs at 91 points and we miss at 80.

7th place. Chicago and St. Louis will bow to us this year. We win twice vs Nashville. 3 times vs the wings

thats what i voted for. 9-10. while we are better, the west is just so good. i think we are a playoff team in the east. in the west, i think we come up short one more year.

I feel we will make it this year, but I've said that before. I think our team is pretty comparable to Calgary in a lot of ways and they always seem to be in that 5 to 7 range. without really doing any thought or research, here is how I see it on July 9th. 1.Dallas 2. Detroit 3. Calgary 4. San Jose 5. Anaheim 6. Chicago 7. Columbus 8. Minnesota 9. Colorado 10. Vancouver 11. Nashville 12. Edmonton 13.Pheonix 14. St. Louis 15. L.A. Any thoughts?

You guys need to be way more optmistic. From an outsiders point of view you will make the playoffs reasons why
1. Solid Goaltending - Leclair has arrived
2. Balanced Scoring - You now have it with the aDDITIONS YOU'VE MADE
3. Solid Coaching

Your D is suspect. this team probobly wont take you deep but making the playoffs is a start and then who knows. Good Luck
