Actually, I think it was a little much if they don't keep him next season.

Ottawa IS the favorite right now to get out of the East. They just added more scoring, and more speed that we can't keep up with.

I agree, but Ottawa is going for it, so it's worth the risk IMO.

If offered Bondra for Ruzicka or Richards and a 2nd, do you bite?

Brooks Laich isnt as good as Ruzicka or Richards and if the sens lose him to free agency next year they will likely get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for compensation if they offer him X amount (how much does Bondra make?) and you never know Bondra might accept but they probably wont want the financial commitment

Exactly. Richards > Ruzicka > Laich. Maybe I would move Drozdetsky or Baronov for him with a 2nd. Actually I don't even think I would put in a 2nd, I'd rather make a bigger deal since we never use our 2nd round picks to begin with

The thing I don't understand is why acquire him in the first place, they already have Alfredson, Hossa and Havlat on the RW.

A second and an obscure prospect, with little chance of ever making it to the NHL is too much for a consistent 30 goal scorer? Even if its just a rental, its a good trade.

no.

We just had a legit draft class, i dont want to squander it.

Keep in mind Gonchar is still available.

i agree and by the sound of it they plan on keeping Peter around....

The Senators will be on the hook for the remainder of this year's salary plus they hold his $4.5-million option for next season.

``Peter Bondra is not a rental,'' Muckler said. ``It's an option-year (contract), which we intend to recognize.''

great move by Ottawa...they're so deep on the farm anyway. oh well, looks like the #1 PP in the league just got better.

later,
dutch

go flyers go!

Except that the trade was for a good prospect who has already played in the NHL.

This is getting scary! Are we going to go stumbling into the playoffs again, trying to piece together a team! I hope we can get out of the first round.

this trade not only brought Bondra to the Sens, but kept him away from conferance rivals

We've lost two in a row and still lead the conference.

Desjardins, Primeau, Brashear and Fedoruk will all be healthy come playoff time, only JR is a question mark.
