also ive been trying to find a site that lists deaths in canada. something like they do in the newspapers, something easy to search, like putting in a last name and the results would come up. anyone?

Go to your local Latter Day Saint Church.

My mom signed up for their free trial period, and when she canceled at the end of the trial time, something screwed up and her credit card got charged for a 1-year membership anyway. She had to call them twice to get it straightened out.

It sounds weird, but its true. They aren't pushy there like their missionaries are when you encounter them on the street either. They really know their stuff.

I got started looking a while back. Its not really easy to do online - most records aren't computerized (or if they are, they aren't searchable). Try to find one of the bigger sites, and input the family tree info you do have - you might hook up with a relative. That's how I found out that my great, great grandfather fought in the US Civil War, and was buried 15 minutes from my parent's farm in Saskatchewan.

Wow, ok. Was not aware of this, at all. Good for them!
