Sergei Kostitsyn is Prime

Anyone else excited to see this kid next season... just last year he finished with the London Knights, and made the big jump, in a limited amount of games played great... and in the playoffs, was a threat every night... I can't wait to see this kid next year and see him put up 70+ pts.

Thats right, i called it here. SK will put up 70+ points...

Saying he'll score 60 points is not really that far of a stretch, considering he put up 27 in 52 games in his rookie season, averaging to 42 points had he played all 82.

It'll depend on how he's used. Will we sign Sundin and play him with Mats and Tanguay? Will he play with Saku and Latendresse? Or will Carbo try to put together a strong two-way line like Higgins-Chipchura-Sergei?

I see Sergei having a career similar to Doug Gilmour, if it really happen we really have to lock him with the Habs for many many years.

70? what are you guys on?
let him crack 50 first...he'll have trouble reaching that if he can't stay out of the penalty box

I expect him to reach 50 but in no shape or form will he reach it "easily"

It's not easy to score 50 points, he wouldn't have done it last season (based on 82 game average)...i mean...Kovalev couldn't crack 50 just a year ago...

I'd be happy with 50 from him. He'll probably be down to a "3rd" liner, so unless if he gets full-time PP duties on the point, it's a lot to expect too much from him.

50 is a more realistic objective for him next season. Yes, he's good but people seem to get carried away too fast on here. Higgins was pretty ace at first too, and everyone thought he'd be a 40 goals a season winger in no time.

Not a lot of players manage a 70 points season.

Your expectations on him are pretty ambitious. He definitely has above avertage skill for the NHL, but I don't see him being a true impact player. Best case I see a 70 point guy who plays gritty and in your face...that will be in 2-3 years. Next year if he gets regular ice and PP time, I expect about 50 maybe 55 points if he gets time on the #2 line. Unless he starts shooting more, he'll be hard pressed to be more than a 15-20 goal guy, he had less shots than games played last year. That's ridiculous for a guy that played on a scoring line.

So his upside is basically like Koivu?

I'm almost serious.

BGL needs to teach him how to fight. Then he'll be a monster.

I see him becoming as good as Koivu or maybe slightly better. He has the potential to reach 70-80pts in his prime and if he plays with a solid team, he might get 90pts. That's just me though.

Don't be too high on him. He's really good, but don't forget the sophomore slump. Many second year players fell in that, and I don't know why...

Sergei is young and he still need to learn many things so we should aim for 50 points for now, and higher the bar next year. If he can reach that level this year, it will be great!
