http://blog.dispatch.com/cbj/

Now we need to hire Jason Bourne to get him here.

I'd love to see this case (which will eventually happen) end up on Judge Judy; I could see it now....

Judge Judy to Medvedev: "IF YOU HAVE NO CONTRACT, SIR, YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS!"

Medvedev: "But, but...."

Judge Judy: "GET OUT OF MY COURTROOM! Finding for the defendants; case dismissed!".

(Wild applause from the gallery)

good to hear. not worried about the other stuff. i almost hope it goes to court just so i can laugh at the KHL when they lose. he broke his contract legally and, as far as i know, his old contract didnt have the payment clause in it like the new contracts do.

If it goes to court it will most likely take awhile. Which means no Filatov for awhile i think. So I just hope it all goes away.

I dont want him to sneak out like Zherdev did either because it sucked to see Zherdev continusly getting the cold shoulder to play at the worlds/olympics.

I want him over here but I want it done cleanly, I think it will be best for his confidence and piece of mind. We dont need another Russian headcase.

I wonder if this story will bump the Dispatch's gestating-for-days story on Voracek for a third time?

Yeah they have to be careful, they don't want to run the risk of running 2 Jackets stories on the same day, and missing some breaking Buckeye offseason news.

After the stuff came out yesterday with CHL asking for money for Filatov, Columbus announces the signing today.... Interesting... I guess Columbus' lawyers reviewed Filatov's documents and situation in general... OR - CBJ doctors attested to the fact that Medvedev (Pres. of CHL) is a complete waste of space!

At this point I think it can be determined that Filatov's fate is out of the Hockey Federation's hands. It's simply a work visa issue now and acting like having an uncontracted posession of his rights was just speculative nonsense.

Without a contract, there is 0 basis for their arguments in any court. Bawwwwwwwwwww Russia Bawwwwwwwwwww

That letter got me so riled up... Don't people realize that this is a major-league team in the world's best hockey league? Show some flippin' respect, even if you don't personally care, right? Geez.

Is someone from these boards going to take the bait and write back? Because I guarantee you that it was a dangling bait by the editor to publish that letter, just to see the response.

/end threadjack.

Back to the topic at hand... this is great news. Hopefully he'll be here soon!

Go to dispatch.com and read Ray Stein's mailbox. The first letter was a complaint about how much Jackets coverage there was during the draft and free agency. The writer wanted to see more offseason Buckeye football coverage.

TSN reporting an agreement between the NHL and the new Russian league has been reached. No mention specifically of Filatov. I assume this will affect how this plays out.
