Naslund or Demitra?

Well obviously the choice the Gillis made was to go in a new direction and bring in Pavol Demitra, while letting Markus Naslund go.

My question to you is, who would you rather have? Both signed identical contracts so term/compensation is not a factor.

I might have said Nazzy a few years ago, but for the Canucks here and now I would definitely say Demitra.

He has a two way style that fits better with the Canucks system, he is bigger and stronger on the puck. I would say offensive output potential is about the same.

Who plays with the most heart and intensity? Not sure, but it seems to ME like a long time ago since Nazzy played with a real flare.

As much as I loved Nazzy, I think it's time to move on and start something new.

If I'm any of the other 29 teams in the NHL (and wasn't trying to make a moody Slovak star happy)? Probably Markus Naslund. He's more durable, and has the nice intangible of being a former captain.

If I'm the Vancouver Canucks, Demitra. It was time for Naslund and the Canucks to part ways.

Demitra's a RW, no captaincy issues.

Pretty easy call IMO.

Demitra.

But Naslund will outscore him this year.

Naslund will be lucky to finish the season playing minutes.

Demitra. Its not so much that he is way better its that i want this team to change and with naslund for some reason the team will always look the same no matter who you get who or who you let go. Naslund had to go and he knew it.

Demitra at this point is probably the better 2 way player, however I agree with whoever said Naslund will probably outsocre him this season.

I think a change of scenery was needed for both Naslund and Vancouver, so this move was inevitable.

Another advantage for Naslund is he's more durable then Demitra.

Didn't you guarantee that Bertuzzi would outscore Naslund last season?

Demitra.

One less point than Naslund last year, but played 14 fewer games. Sure, that shows that he does get injured, but it also shows his PPG is much higher than Naslund's at this point in their respective careers.

Demitra, he's injury prone but still puts up similar ammount of points in LESS games.

Not to mention he wants to play here. Anyone who wants to play here is a solid signing.

He's not a captain so we can give it to someone more deserving.

Also he doesn't strike me as a player who will whine about the style of hockey we play.

who voted for Naslund?

Demitra is a much better and more complete player then Naslund, Naslund was a liability when he was on the ice and he didnt make the players around him better, his offensive abilities also arent anything special anymore. Demitra on the other hand can back checfk and play defensively so he isnt a liability on the ice, he makes player around him better and offensively he is about the same as Naslund.
Both players are aging and arent the players they used to be but Demitra at this point in time is a much better player then Naslund.

Incase you didn't notice, Naslund has been garbage the past two seasons.

Actually I'd say that offensive Demitra, at this stage, is better than Naslund.

I did because I simply like holding on to guys. I would have loved to have both, but if I had to choose the guy that lead this team out of total misery or the new guy...I'd go with Naslund. I had hoped to see him retire here. He did a lot here. Sure he wasn't the Captain that everyone wanted him to be, but he still served us very well and deserves some respect for being our all-time leading scorer.

I'll take team accomplishments over personal accomplishments anyday, and in that regard Naslund didn't do a whole lot.
