Well according to your Canuck sources who has been spewing rhetoric all over the Habs board, your GM is using the Olympics of 2010 as a ploy to entice Sundin to come so he can utilize the many business opportunities after he retires.

"Sundin spotted eating ice cream in Stanley Park, news at 6 on Global BC"

All jokes aside, I'll be glued to the Vancouver media for days on out..in the meantime I'll post meaningless Sundin spotting's in the city...like for say, "Sundin uses the pay phone at Chevron gas station in Surrey, employee spots him, calls Vancouver Sun ASAP"

Think that's a pretty accurate assessment.

Right?
my bad, that seems correct after thinking about it, i just remember a lot of OT that playoffs for the canucks

point is, the series was a lot closer than the 5 games seemed to indicate, due to luongo shutting the door and allowing OT, but the canucks just couldnt buy a goal back then. They got shut out in 3 games of round one and still ended up winning the series! Who is to say that they couldnt go far if they just added a couple more pieces?... like, say... sundin/demitra/bernier

It kind of entertaining to see just how riled habs fans become, its like a portal of emotions when entering the habs forum.

Yep, that's right. Either way, aside from game 1, it was pretty damn close for a 5 game series.

I think we would feel the same way if the situation was reversed and all the rumours were pointing to Sundin signing in Montreal. Which is why I choose to remain realistic and treat all the "Mats seen in Vancouver" or "My source says Mats is pencilled in as the first line center" as good entertainment and nothing more.

If I remember correctly, Vancouver played 4 overtimes in the 2007 playoffs.

Would the Nucks name Sundin captain if he signed? Or would they give it to Ohlund?

even though it was you spewing that crap on our board (perhaps it IS true), you're a good man nonetheless.

Habs organization = punching bag for UFA's

No way, we'd be in a much faster, cooler boat with an awesome stereo and painted entirely with plasma televisions!

The Sedins give us 55 goals. Kovalchuk would give us 55 goals. The money is about the same. What you gain is a dynamic player, a roster spot for another dynamic player, a change up for a stale offense, and a couple of years more youth.

I don't think that was anything other than tire-kicking, can't blame GMMG for inquiring about Kovy. IMO we're a better team with the Sedins than with Kovalchuk.

Demitra - Sundin - Kovalchuk does make me pee a little though.

I find comments like this pretty funny.

They "utterly fail" against tight checking?? they've been the canucks top unit, out against other team's top units for a couple seasons now... and they were both top 30 in scoring last 2 straight years... they put up 74 and 76 points this past year, and each had over 80 pts the year before.

I mean if "utter failure" is putting up 70+ points while having no offense behind, or with you, then these guys should be putting up well over 100 points in the right situation...

Sundin had just 2 more points than Henrik last year... 3 more goals than Daniel.... they both outscored him the season before.

utterly fail...

To be completely honest, if he signs in Vancouver it looks to me like he doesn't really care about winning the cup. I know lots of Nuck fans will get on me for saying this but I think getting Sundin makes them a playoff contender...Not a cup contender. He's taking the money over the cup.

Van top 7 in ga.PP 18th in league, goals for 23rd in the league. 3/4 of the way through the season we were third -- 5 on 5 hockey.

Sundin and Demitria would bring PP and goals and face off winning%.

Would be a strong western team

You'd think that they'd see it coming though, considering some Habs fans have been the bane of this board for years.
