For those who doesn't read Swedish I can add that Nordstrom thinks that Mats will be back in Toronto, and then adds a slim dark horse in NY Rangers.

Please note that even as Nordstrom is Swedish and working for a Swedish tabloid, he's actually stationed in LA.

I do think that he's correct (except for his Rangers pipedream) but his guesses aren't worth much more than any other hockey writers.

I still think he could go to Detroit for a major discount.

c) Another example of where peoples past still live in the present. Watch the Oilers & Gretzky are going to take over this year.
BUT Brodeur still is the best goalie in the league. He proved it last year. I caught many a Devils game and Brookbank and Mottau were so bad it was amazing what Brodeur did in 07-08 to keep his team in playoff contention. He won a Vezina with A WORSE DEFENSE THAN LUONGO'S FLORIDA TEAMS. How is that not better than anything Luongo's ever done. For ****'s sake, we're talking about Mike Mottau here, a guy who not crack any NHL roster till last year!

It would have to be a heck of a discount. They have just over four million in cap space and still have Fillpula to sign. Kenny Holland can easily find a way to make it all work though. They'd be such a scary team having Sundin and Hossa added for the 08/09 season. Not even Ribeiro in his "Stronger" shirt would be able to stop them.

NHL - Lester B. Person Award (Player of the Year selected by the NHLPA)
NHL - Art Ross Trophy (Leading Scorer)

Sad times indeed. I hope that Sundin makes up his mind soon, so these threads can go away and we can all read about the lines he'll be on.

People can no longer claim the Leafs have the most annoying fanbase.

Everyone seems to be saying that

1.) Sundin wants to stay in the east.
2.) Sundin wants to play for a contender.
3.) Sundin does NOT want to retire.

and we accept this as gospel..Why? Sundin has Never said to the best of my knowledge anything about staying in the east or playing for a contender. His agent said he doesnt think sundin will retire.

All we know is sundin said he cant imagine leaving toronto, he will stop playing once he gets a diminished role, and he doesnt want to be a rental. Thats it.

Because it has been repeated so often that it has become gospel.

The fact that it doesn't have a valid source is doesn't seem to matter.

Going to be interesting to watch the HF boards whoever he signs with.

IT will be a mad scramble to be the first to post "Sundin Signs with...."

I wonder if Mats puruses the HF boards under an assumed name, and "leaks" little bits of info under the cover of "I heard a rumor..."

Maybe Mats could have a contest a "in 100 words or less, which team should I sign with, or should I retire". Get the fanbase involved....

Meh, common logic suggests he wants to play for a contender and I believe he liked his time playing in Quebec so Montreal is a good fit for what he wants.

Either way I still believe he will be a Canuck, win the cup and have his number retired in only playing a year or two with us.

How the hell is Luongo a primadonna?

And LOL at your comment about Brodeur being better. Brodeur is the real primadonna. He does nothing but whine.

Duly noted for all the brainwashed Canucks fans that start spewing venom as soon as someone brings up the notion of Sundin playing elsewhere, as if he's already Vancouver's property. Nevermind that there's never been a shred of proof to suggest anything, just "reliable sources" with names like HankyFourFingers and hockey window. This isn't a knock at those two, just a knock at how absurd the whole situaiton has become.

Yea cause it's all Canucks fans getting all pissy about the situation...brainwashed??? Come on if reliable sources are saying it's a very good possibility then why wouldn't fans feel they have as good a shot as anyone? Does it mean Sundin signs in Van? No...but to rule out the possibility completely like many posters seem to be in these threads is even more absurd then to believe it's possible.

I'm sick of the inferiority complexe of the canucks fans towards us. Come back when you'll get one 24th of our number of cups.

And everything you said works just as well for Montreal fans. The bottom line is that right now, neither team has a claim to him, so it's ridiculous for either side to act like they have ownership of Sundin.

Yes and we finally get to "we won more Cups" trash talk...I believe that is the equivalant of hitting rock bottom in hockey debates. Good one Gold Star for you .

Completely agree...It's fun to debate the reasons for why he will go wherever he will but to just bash each other with no real purpose is childish...We all know and respect the heritage of Montreal Canadiens hockey but as a fanbase we(Canucks fans) shouldn't have to deal with the constant insults to the team that we love and support. I would be willing to bet that a large majority of Canucks fans would name Montreal as their 2nd favourite team in the NHL.

You're telling this to a Leafs fan? It was one of my first realizations when I started watching hockey.

But seriously, all Canadian fanbases have their idiots due to their sheer size alone. I just find all this venom towards one another amusing, and all because of Mats. I knew there was yet another reason why I loved him.
