The hawks would be able to throw quite a few young prospects Ottawa's way.
A deal based around Barker, throw in at least one of:
If Vermette were involved as well I think it could also potentially include Bolland, Skille, Kontiola etc.
Mostly just wishful thinking on my part, as IMO Neil would be a really good fit here in Chicago. I generally think Barker is under rated by hawk fans, he's a damn fine D prospect who just had to work on consistency. But I know the organization if VERY high on Nik Hjalmarsson, and he may make Barker expendable.
Neil is a UFA next summer. As a rebuilding team, the ChiHawks will need to keep that in mind.
Chicago is not in rebuilding mode. The want to win now. Making the playoffs is a must, and I think they at least want to be competitive once they get there.
edit-- oh, and if Dale is talking with Murray he is almost certainly inquiring about Vermette. Back when Arnason was traded, everyone in Chicago was told that Tallon was trying to sweeten the pot to get Vermette instead of Bochenski. There's no question that Tallon likes him alot. Not saying its gonna happen, but I'm sure it is or was discussed.
Neil + Vermette + defenceman + 1st for barker and Khabby
What a joke. Khabby is a ridiculous contract you're trying to dump, that hurts his value severely. No way Chicago gets all that for him and Barker. And if Ottawa is moving a defenseman in the trade then it defeats the whole purpose because they're looking to add one.
That would have to be a mid-round pick, otherwise it's overpayment. I love what Neil brings but he's an impending ufa. Anyways, this likely wouldn't happen because it won't cut enough salary for us, only about a mil. So unless PK is willing to spend a little more to land a beast like Neil it's not happening.
