Perhaps Mats said "No Krog, I don't sign"

Yes, that is one thing he is great at. Always a faceoff guy since his Duck days.

I find it funny that you would reply like this to me, and then you would say this to another poster:

When in my original post, I didn't even refer to the success of the organization, so I don't see how that has any bearing on my original comment or your reaction to it. Because you need the clarification, here is my comment again:

It is my impression that the Manitoba Moose organization is highly regarded among professional hockey. They have done an excellent job scouting, developing, and operating the franchise. Their arena, while undersized, and their facilities are regarded as among of the best of the last decade. And unlike Chicago, they are practically the only winter sports team in town. They have incredible support from their fans.

That is what I meant when I said that Manitoba is a crown jewel among the AHL franchises. I'm sorry that you couldn't draw that from my original post. Perhaps you should read it instead of reacting to a few words?

According to this, he's going to Russia...

June 12, 2008 - CHICAGO – The Chicago Wolves won the final series of the American Hockey League by beating the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Wolves’ top scorer Jason Krog stood out again with a hat-trick in the 5-2 win in game six. A goodbye present before leaving for Russia.

Jason Krog became the man of the game by scoring two more goals, totalling three goals and one assists for the night. Jason Krog became the AHL’s top scorer in both the regular season and the playoffs. In 110 games, he had 63 goals and 83 assists. He has signed with Russian team Severstal Cherepovets for next season. After not making the NHL roster, he will have a second stint in Europe after having played in Austria, Sweden and Switzerland from 2004 to 2006.

I think the opposite. More likely to move Pyatt, and save 1 million in cap space. We would be 400k over with Sundin, and need room for injury reserves.

My guess is that it's just a depth signing.

Just because Krog is on a 1-way contract, doesn't mean he can't be sent to the minors.... he signs with the canucks (he's a BC guy as well) hoping to get a spot on the team... if he doesn't than he gets waived and may get picked up by another team. if not, he's making NHL salary playing in the AHL.

I know he'd rather not go back to the AHL, but he may rather go back making his NHL salary, than go to Europe, if that's worst case... in the process he gets a chance to earn a spot not only with the canucks, but possibly with another team if he has a good camp and the canucks still waive him.

for the canucks, they just add more depth going to camp... if you're changing the look of the team, best bet is bringing in a lot of different faces and see which ones fit, and which ones don't.... as of right now, there are probably 17-18 forwards that should be fighting for the 13 forward jobs.

Is there ANYTHING about this other than the nhl.com link?

Edit: nhl.com Has been known to make errors.

Anyways, I'm starting to not care anymore. So save your witty retorts. M'kay? Thanks.

Why, is a link from the official site of the NHL not good enough for ya?

It is actually quite funny because of the irony.

You want a confrimation link, but don't accept a link from the OFFICIAL SITE OF THE NHL as confrimation, but want one from a major media site.

Ummm. yea NHL.com WAS known to make errors, but that was a LONG time ago (as in a couple years)

How does the signing of a 13th/14th forward rule out Sundin?

that's what i was thinking as well, and for the organization, i pray that is what is happening! i see no harm in letting 9 (pyatt, pettinger, johnson, hortichuk, hansen, raymond, grabner, cowan, wellwood) players battling out for the few available roster spots. if nothing else, it creates a competitive environment and force everybody to perform their best (and some, like wellwood, could use more motivation). it also mean we can afford to dump an expensive 3rd/4th liner to create cap space for sundin, if he chooses to sign here. at worst we waive krog, he goes to the minor and we pay him nhl salary. he might even force us to release him to goto russia if we cut him, which will save us his salary.

Since Krog is signed with a Russian team, wouldn't this be another signing that violates the NHL-KHL "agreement"?

I'm puzzled. There is no mention of this "signing" anywhere, aside from his inclusion in the Canuck roster on NHL.com. Correct?

Even CDC, part of the NHL Network, doesn't have him on the Canuck roster.

Mistake? I don't know.

By the way, the Canuck roster on CDC, again part of the NHL Network, is riddled with errors. It lists Raymond as a right winger for one.
