1: i've been a proponent of trading vermette all summer if it got us the right pieces.

2: it doesnt really look like the right piece is avaliable now. Unless he's dealt to chicago with gerber for khabby and barker or something like that, i think the better option is to keep him, sign him to a 2-year contract and trade him at the deadline for a big fish.

3: this is the first time since losing havlat that the sens have 6 top-6 forwards (and that's if you count bonk/white as top-six). I'd love to see how we produce with that.

Heatley-Spezza-Vermette
Williams-Fisher-Alfie

could look very good, with fisher and vermette switching if need be.

Now THAT deal both Chicago and Ottawa might do. If they can get rid of Lang on someone too, they'll be exactly where they want to be. They save money and get under the cap without having to dump anyone who can score like Havlat. They get rid of their extra defenseman without making a dump deal for a pittance. They add scoring, speed, and one of the league's best short handed players.

Meanwhile, Vermette is happy since he gets the extra ice time he wants, futher, he will probably get to play centre which he prefers.

'Bulin is happy since he finally gets a change of scenery. Ottawa is happy since it gets the physical puck mover we've be wanting.

If Gerber wasn't getting the shaft, I'd say it would be perfect.

We had five of those guys for a few years now. LAst year we had Stillman, the year before that Comrie. We always end up with 6 top 6 guys at the end of the year. Vermette has always been a question mark as a top 6. He still is in my opinion. This year it is time to change at least one of the five regulars and Vermette is the best option to go. We may not get another forward until near the deadline, or someone will step up (Foligno?)

Vermette will most likely stay in Ottawa. Even with rumors of him asking to be traded, at the very least we should have him for 2 more years

but that's not how the blogger worded it. He made it sound as if Vermette asked for a trade because he heard Williams was signing.

He could re-sign but at the same time JM could be trying to maximize return by bluffing.

I'd love Vermette in a Habs uniform... obviously not going to happen, though. Hopefully the Sens do trade him because I believe he's going to have a huge year next year

He'll burst into an awesome center once he gets given the icetime he deserves and he never got in Ottawa.

I'd kill to have him in an Habs uniform, I'd forget Sundin easily.

Looks like both Vermette and Neil are being speculated to be traded. As per
http://senschirp.blogspot.com/

I am pretty sure with the signing of Williams, Vermette is now trade bait for a top 4 dman.

Murray has something up his sleeve. All his signings are done for a reason. There is definitely something going on and we will soon find out.

Could be, only JM knows for sure. At the same time Vermette has probably lowered his return by saying he wants to be traded!

I'm still not ready to actually believe it, the guy is right about UFA signings and breaks them ahead of time for Ottawa, but he hasn't been right about who stays and goes. (Although he is right a good number of times for that too.)

I just want something good in return. If Murray pulls another "Corvo" trade I won't be to happy.

His signings have been great (and not to pricey) and I'm happy with Ruutu, Smith and Williams.

No, it's called believing in your GM! He has done alot of things for this organization since taking over. Our prospects pool was non existent before he took over and in just two years as GM, our prospect pool has never looked so good since the inception of this franchise. He has drafted or traded for players like Matthias, Frolik, Repik, Ellerby, Robak & Markstrom.

Vermette for Kubina, anyone? I know, the two teams totally don't match up - but I think such a trade would be good for both sides.
