You are not doing a very good job at breaking the stereotype that Columbus fans know nothing about hockey... Vermette is not soft.

Just wanted to point ou that last year, Vermette had more even strength points than Hossa, Kovalev, Sykora, Vrbata, Briere, Cole, Elias, Naslund, Brown, Malone, B. Richards, Gionta, etc.?

Most Jackets fans REALLY want Vermette. Howson was also supposedly making an offer for Vermette.

I'd be shocked if Vermette was out there and there was no offer from Columbus.

Howson has said several times he loves Vermette, I'd be shocked if he wasn't calling Murray about him.

If Ottawa can get Bouwmeester for Vermette+Meszaros+whatever, they should take it and run, IMO (and I'm fully aware of how incredibly good Vermette and Meszaros are/can be).

Done. Tough, but done.

White could help fill the loss of Vermette for a season or two at a decent price.

He isn't soft. He's not a bruiser, but he's not weak along the boards.

In a year, everybody can go out and get Bouwmeester for nothing.

Well, these are words that I never thought I'd say (...type), but if he has to move, I hope it's to somewhere like Columbus where he'd be used to the full extent of his abilities. And where there might be a decent plan in place going forward, as opposed to whatever's going on in Florida (no offense, Panthers fans). Chicago would be fine with me too because I like the Blackhawks, but where would he slot in on the depth chart there?

Sigh. I really looked forward to seeing him play Hartsburg's system.

Make that Seabrook or Keith rather than Barker and I'd do it. But there might be cap issues.

What are Vermette's salary demands? Is there anything from Pittsburgh that might be of interest? If we can move Sydor (seperately, I'm positive Ottawa won't want him) we could have cap room for Vermette...barely. He'd be a good fit anywhere on the team I think.

vermette wants to play center. I doubt he'd be very happy in pittsburgh.

He'd be perfect in Atlanta. We need a center that can play on the top line. Can he play center on the top line or is he better suited for line 2?

Seabrook and Keith are not being moved. There are 2 deals that i think would work for both sides
Gerber + Neil + Vermette for Barker + Khabibulin + Kontiola + Calgary's 2nd
Or
Barker + Lang + Calgary's 2nd for Neil and Vermette (this may need a bit more from Chicago to even out i'm not sure)

Columbus needs a center, and we play in the West.

first one.

to everyone - if ottawa is trading vermette, they cant take on significant top-six salary

I would really love something like: Gerber, Vermette for Barker, Khabby, Kontiola (can he play wing), Bertram.

i dont want to trade neil, but thats more of a personal thing than a rational thing.

Kontiola can play wing and has done in Finland and at times in the AHL (and looked pretty good) but he is better at centre. However if the package no longer contains Neil and Vermette then i wouldn't be offering Barker, in my eyes he is only on the table if Neil and Vermette are coming back.

interesting. Not looking for a proposal, but, using any player/s in the league and/or picks, what do you think neil's value is?

No need for Klesla with Smith. My guess is that Murray's love for local guys will mean Brassard will be a target.
