Then Vermette isn't coming to the Blue Jackets.

Dream that Vermette isn't worth a guy who got 1 assist in 17 games? You need to give something to get something.

If that's all Brass was, then he's worth that and then some. But Brassard is likely the future #1 center of our organization, practically a lock to make the team next year, and thus arguably our most valuable prospect short of, say, Voracek. Ottawa would have to give over significantly more than Vermette to land him, and we don't need much more than Vermette anyways... at least, not from Ottawa. (We could use Spezza, but I have no desire to be laughed at by suggesting same in this discussion. )

So... um, no.

I'm not going to argue what's fair value for Vermette in a trade with Columbus, but Brassard is much better than what you are giving him credit for. I'm a Hawks fan, and only got to see Brassard a couple of times, but he was far more impressive than Brule ever was for them and I expect a good rookie season out of him. He'll be a very good player.

Alright, so you think his proposal is bad.

But then you come out with this waste of a post just laughing.

Why don't you put up a counter-offer? Or explain why it's a bad deal?

Probably not the best being offered up right now, but I'd love Vermette on the Stars, and Dallas would be willing to offer up a package centered around Boucher and a pick. Boucher had some injury issues last year, but he's a top pairing guy and a power play force under contract for only $2.5 million.

I'd imagine Sens fans would be a lot more keen if you floated Trevor Daley's name. Not sure why a team with Richards/Ribeiro/Modano down the middle would be looking at Vermette, though.

i'm betting he ends up in the central or southeast. Columbus, Chicago, Florida, or Atlanta. Tampa's needs help up front too.

What about Vermette and Neil (assuming he's being shopped as well) for Bieksa + something (not sure, pick, prospect, player?).

Vermette asked for a trade, he won't be garnering a huge return. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Martin is trying to land him. Not sure would interest the Senators, though, I think people need to look at the recent trade history to have a real clue.

My opinion, but this POV is generally inaccurate. It's got more to do with the market for a guy like Vermette than the simple fact that he wants out. The majority of teams will find ways to make room for a guy like him. He's not a schlub.

Chicago's in need of LW's with skill, and I'd deal in him a package with Barker, but only if the salary of Lang or Khabi is going along with him. Not that these guys would be the only ones in the deal, but we need some cap space gone.

Where would Vermette fit on our roster in your opinion? What line?

I guess Murphy could go home in a deal for Vermette or a Van Ryn if any club has interest in him.

That is not always true. Plus Vermette wants to sign long term with Ottawa @ around 3.5. So it's give me what I want or trade me kinda thing if the request is true at all. He also must think he isn't getting the best chance to realise his full potential in Ottawa i.e. pp time etc where he plays more of a cheking PK role.

They don't want Gerber but if Ottawa are going to take Khabibulin then Chicago need to take Gerber for salary reasons.

You aren't getting Skille and Brouwer along with Barker for that package and Chicago have zero interest in McAmmond since if Vermette and Neil were coming they'd already have 13 forwards on one way deals. Schubert could be useful but with the loss of Barker Chicago would still have 7 NHL ready d-men.

No, for a start Chicago would be adding salary which they can't do and personally i wouldn't do it because i really like Barker.

Neither were Olli and Pronger who asked to be traded and nor was Thornton.

Vermette for Barker or Vermette for Bieska seem fair.

I'd love for Columbus to make a pitch but the best we could give would be Vermette for Klesla but now with Smith in the fold that doesn't make much sense.

We could put an offer of propsects or bottom 6 players but sounds like Ottawa wants a good d-man in return.
