OT: Someone stole my computer!

What the hell guys! I'm currently in an internet cafe because someone stole my bloody computer! As you know, I recently bought a condo and was moving my stuff into the car, getting ready for the move...Well, I put my computer on the curb and went into get a few more boxes, and when I came back, my entire computer was gone! I live in a nice neighborhood...I never thought someone would do that!

My whole life was on that computer! I had lots of pictures and stuff...Some embarassing videos too! And the only copy of my recently revised CV! This is horrible!

that sucks.
what neighborhood?

you should report it to the police. Even though there's almost no chance you'll get it back, you might get lucky.

edit: ok, i obviously missed the first thread.

Gotta love HF.

You need to change your name and appearance and disappear.

I'm not sure what type of laws Canada has with identity theft but in the US their are a few things you must do.

1. Call any and all credit card vendors you have and get new cards. Inform them that the information was on the computer and request theft assistance. I have found that Visa is all but murderous in their attempts to catch people messing with their customers.

2. Get on a credit watch pay service of your choice.

3. Call the vendor of your computer and operating system - you never know what they may be able to do. Especially after they hook your box up to the internet - I know Microsoft can track their products.

4. When they catch the jerk press all charges no matter what the situation. "My kids were starving etc.."

Good luck man and let me know how it goes.

Is it wrong for me to continually refresh Youtube waiting for the video to be uploaded?

Really sorry to hear that. In the words of an HF idiot: if your PC got stolen that means you live in the ghetto

(Had a thread about my crackhead neighbor and I live in Beaconsfield, some moron decided to say I'm a liar and that I live in a ghetto neighborhood cause of my neighbor, was just using the same type of logic)

Anyone from Montreal area would laugh in the dudes face. So where is this nice neighborhood anyhow Dave?

I don't want to ever move my stuff into that area now for fear of losing my PC which I love dearly.

wish I had seen the other thread b4 posting this
