Very cool...would prefer he stay over here. He moves to another Original 6 team...he'll fit in well with the Habs.

Send a message via AIM to ECL
If he's used in a limited role on the 4th line, he can be an asset.

If he's used as a top 6 role, Montreal will be making a huge mistake.

Nice, go to the habs shanny for like 3 mill, so they keep their grubby little hands off vancouver's sundin.

If true it will be interesting to see what his cap hit is. Could affect the chances of the Habs signing Sundin, either positively or negatively.

Great then, we don't want him. Vancouver can have him.

Seriously, he had his chance to come here. Prefered the Rangers 2 years ago, now they don't want him anymore so he turns to us 2 years too late. We have no room or need for him at this point.

Only his RH shot would be welcome but we can do better without it.

Haven't you heard? Sundin will sign in Detroit for a discount. Don't go jumping off a bridge now...

I love Shanahan, and although his game has slowed, he would still bring a lot for the Habs.

I love Shanahan, but as a habs fan, no thank you. We have enough wingers. I really don't see this happening.

not sure i'd put a lot of stock in this. the story mentions the 4th period (different 4th period...a russian site). the site in question is a rumour site that probably has as much truth as most rumor sites

I don't think Habs fans will be as enthusiastic as 2 years ago at the prospect of signing him...

kind of makes you wonder what the people running your team are thinking, no? its not like he can come play there without the invitation of a contract, right?

he might be old but he's still competitive as hell, plays hard, gritty and still has a wicked shot. PP Time and bottom 6 minutes hopefully. not bad to have for depth too if someone goes down. which is always likely.

We don't know for sure we offered him anything. It's only a rumour that is as far as i'm concern as good as any Eklund rumour right now.

My point of view is we don't need him. We already have too many winger on the team. We need a top line center or 3rd line center maybe to cut the gap a little and bring support to Plek and Koivu.

Shanny turn his back to us when we needed him 2 years ago. Thats not the case any more and I would prefer keeping our wingers like they are. We already have 2 of Higgins, S.Kostitsyn and Latendresse that will play on the 3rd line as it is. Again IMO, no need for Shanahan.

Shanahan is an absolute beast. It doesn't get much more consistent than 19 straight 20-goal seasons. Sidney Crosby was little more than a month old when Shanny started his last season without scoring 20 goals.

I've been saying since the beginning of the off-season that I'd like the Habs to sign him, he's a gritty guy who'll go to the net and even though he's not what he used to be, still scored 23 goals last year, if he's willing to play 3rd line minutes, welcome aboard, although it gives us a lot of wingers.

Well I think the consensus here would be that he would be a very good addition to our club if he stays within his parameters.

Brendon Shanahan is the equivalent of Alex Kovalev in terms of realized potential, one was a pure skilled finesse player with an edge and the other became an early age power forward. When you take this into consideration, Adding Shanahan to our roster is like the polar opposite of the russian forward, thus adding an other dimention to our offense, which I dont need to remind anyone about the last season.

Eh.
