Yahoo Power Rankings - Oilers #22

No bias or anything in this column..

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_yl...yhoo&type=lgns

Quote:
OK, GM Kevin Lowe has made a number of moves, but do they make any sense? The Oilers take on defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky (overrated), Gilbert Brule (top pick Columbus gave up on) and Erik Cole. They lose Jarret Stoll, who looked to be on the brink of breaking through a couple years ago and is still young; Matt Greene, an average D-man; Joni Pitkanen, an underachieving D-man; and Raffi Torres, who when not injured is one of the best third-line agitators around. It just seems like a bunch of bodies moving around.

I'm sure even if we got Crosby in a trade, we'll just get ranked #21, and with lamo reasons.

At the end of the year, the Oilers were 19th best, now they are just backing up a few steps to gain stretch in the rubber band, to fling them forward come hockey season.

McKeon is a typical know-nothing, California "hockey writer" who should be sticking to baseball. End of story.

Honestly who cares where the Oilers are ranked?

The team no doubtedly got better with additions of Cole and Visnovsky and some opponents got weaker--NAS, CAL, MIN, COL--which I think should provide for a few extra wins. At the end of the day, that might be enough to propel Oilers to the play-off-spot. And once you are there, anything can hapen.

Why don't the knowledgeable posters here do their own thing.

How would you rank them?

Actually, I think the team will show them who is #22. Your words will turn out to be prophetic.

Ice on Play!

I think we need to ignore these articles and let the play on the ice do the talking. The Oilers are going to contend for a playoff spot and possibly the division lead.

You are criticizing people for informing you that this is a redundant thread and for asking you to check first before you create one.

If I had something to contribute I would post it on the original thread.

LOL @ the Torres comment.

Lubo OVERRATED? more like underrated.

Yahoo man is a tool, simple as that....how do you rank the incredible tandem of Raycroft and Budaj ahead of us, let alone at 12.

This is actually the first time I have seen this article so thanks....

I enjoy seeing how the yahoos at yahoo sports spout their dribble and know nothing at all...It makes for some comedic reading during the off season, did they not rank us 30th last year or was that THN?

I would rank the team 15th. I think Lowe made the team better.

They're better than 22nd - that's for damn sure.

that moron who wrote that blurb obviously never watched the Oilers at all. the Torres comment sums up that they dont watch the team with any "optics"
