Sundin is believe to be in Sweden fishing with his family, so I doubt that.

No thanks. Might confuse it with a Canuck logo.

Why would he join a team that won't even make the POs?

They'll have Demitra for about 50 games, how can they miss?

It should be between Toronto, retirement or in the Swedish league. I think that this whole "Want to play for a cup contender" is totally blown out of proportion. 'Cause it would have been that important, he would've waived his no-trade and leave some room to go to a contender instead of being loyal to his loser team.

And I believe that if he comes back, he'll have a talk with Fletcher and he'll make Sundin understand that it was in both sides interest to have talked about possible deals, then they'll make up, kiss, and go back to play for his beloved fans in TO.

Or the more he waits, the less you feel like training and you just don't come back. Or you just go back home for 2 years and end your career that way.

The reason he did not want his no trade was he did not want to join a contender late in the year. If you take what he said at face value that doesn't mean he'd rather play in TO than a contender.

Another month, would be my guess.

Athletes love this kind of stuff. As long as they can handle the pressure from the media, they'll ride their time in the sun. Clemens did it, Pettitte did it, Foppa did it, so will Mats.

He didn't waive his clause because he said he didn't believe in the concept of joining a team for the last rush of the season to win a cup. To win it you have to be in it from the beginning of the season, battle with the guys. He didn't feel like he'd truly be a part of a team had he been traded. Thats why he didn't waive it.

We also don't know what he's really doing in Sweden, I don't think he's fishing and eating sushi with his family 24/7. Maybe he is keeping in shape, maybe not. Don't know.

Maybe he'll sign here, maybe in VAN, maybe in TO, maybe in Sweden or maybe just retire. It's anybody's guess really, as even Mats says he doesn't know yet.

Why?

What in the bloody hell are the Canadiens going to have to do in the meantime?

If it takes until opening day of the 2008-2009 NHL Season (Sundin said he refuses to do what Teemu and Scott did) then thats what it will take. I'd rather wait for nothing than give up when we had a chance just because it, "didn't happen fast enough".

I doubt Gainey will make an other move if Sundin signs somewhere else. He'll probably have to wait for the Trade Deadline.

I still say the real reason Sundin wouldn't waive his NTC, is because he already had made plans after the regular season, and being traded to a contender would have interfered with them.

Those must have been quite great plans.

Sure didn't look that way....

The guy almost single-handedly put the Leafs in the playoffs in the final weeks of the season.

^he didn't even play in the final weeks of the season...
And leafs were never close to making the playoffs, they had a good run a month before the season ending but even then, everybody knew they weren't gonna make it...

Maybe Sundin has invested money in the Eklund site , so the more he waits , the more $$$$ he's making . Everyday , thoulsans of fans go there to see what happen with him .

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later Gainey's will be on the other line
Sooner or later Gainey's wll be on the other line

Go tell that long tongue liar EK
Go and tell that midnight ryder
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that gainey's got the one
Tell 'em that gaineys got the one

Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
I've been down on bended knee talkin' to the ghost from the Rocket
He spoke to me in the voice so
I thought I heard the shuffle of the ex habs legends
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, "Matt bring the cup home!"

Go tell that long tongue liar EK
Go and tell that midnight ryder
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that gainey's got the one
Tell 'em that gainey's got the one

You can run on for a long time

Sooner or later gainey's will be on the other line

Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as To made blue and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light

You can run on for a long time

You really believe he's soaking all this attention in his cottage in a little swedish town no one has ever heard of.

Sundin isn't like that, in all the years we have seen this guy in toronto has he ever been one to look for attention.

I really believe he's thinking things over.

Ok, so everything I have seen says Sundin is in Sweden...yet today at thestar.com they had a photo this morning of Sundin at the Rogers Centre with Blue Jays GM JP Riccardi, where he apparently took batting practice yesterday morning for fun...what gives? Anyhow know anything? Is he around?
