I can't imagine why anyone would want Schremp up here to play 8 minutes a night. If he's on the 4th line he HAS to be on the 2nd PP unit and I don't see that either.

He will get his opportunities this season. Injuries are inevitable. It's bordering on true fanaticism the way some posters laud Schremp with blind enthusiasm. I too want him to become a solid player but if that means 3 years primarily in the AHL then so be it. I still think he's going to get into 12-20 games this season depending on the injury situation and will likely crack the team full time in 2009-10 when he becomes waiver eligible and also (hopefully) a solid player.

Some people are just allergic to depth it seems.

I think you're wrong about your 12-20 game estimate.

Schremp will get over 40 games this year.

Could happen if:

1. Other guys on the farm are clearly behind him in development. This would include a strong defensive commitment that outshines that of potential bottom 6 call ups like Reddox, Trukhno and O'Marra.
2. There is a major injury to a top 6 forward.
3. He has an amazing camp. For instance if he somehow outperforms Penner and either Nilsson or Cogliano for a 2nd line spot.

No. 3 is very unlikely. No.1 is questionable. No.2 seems like the only scenario and as an Oiler fan I don't want to see one of out best players out in order for Schremp to play.
