Just to follow in the whinning trend we're in at the moment...

Rules are dumb. If the guy doesn't say he's heard it from a friend, the thread remains OK, but because he said it... it gets closed? I mean WTF... what does it change? It's not as if a rumor was any more true if there were no "sources"... rumors are just that rumors... things we've HEARD. Am I alone on this? Probably..

I agree with you, I mean it still can be something posters can talk about. Something we heard can be considered the same thing as a proposal...

It'd probably be something like Calgary trades so and so to Carolina, then trades newly acquired players to Montreal.

I don't think we'd be getting both. They are the better players of the deal. Hainsey and another player for O'Neill can happen...

If we get O'Neill and Gauthier, I will be the happiest man in the world for sure!! It would cost us alot though to get both...

Maybe Sundstrom to Calgary directly for Gauthier... a 1 on 1 deal... it's a clean deal IMO between the 2 team. That would leave Hainsey and ??? for O'Neill... Now the ??? can be a good player with the team right now like Zednick or some prospect like Hossa but with a pick, nothing less.

To Carolina : Zednick/Hainsey or Hainsey/Other good prospect/Draft pick, Boughner
To Calgary : Sundstrom, Hill
To Montreal : Gauthier, O'Neill

I doubt this is true but.. man I would be happy if we could get O'neill and Gauthier!! WOW!! That would cost us alot though.. but that would be worth it!

*stops dreaming*

My post was not very clear so I edited it while you replied to it... Take the time to read it again

I know it's impossible to get O'Neill vs Zednick alone. Don't worry for this.

The spirit behind the rule is just - they don't want to see tons of 'i got this from a friend who is a legit source' posts, because there used to be a lot of them.

That said, you're not allowed to say you're a specific person on these boards, yet it's okay for Bob McKenzie. Why? Because it is Bob McKenzie, and he proved it to the mods.

Well, this guy nailed a move only a few days ago, and it was the ONLY move he's posted about. Quite frankly, they should have given him some leeway. It definitely sounds like he knows someone in the Habs organization that gets to hang out in the same offices as the movers and shakers.

I guess we'll know soon enough. Good luck

It would be so nice to pick up O'Neil and/or Gauthier. I doubt we'd be able to get both of them, though....

To Cal : Sundstrom, Boughner
To Car : Gauthier, Hainsey, other habs players or pick
To Mtl : Hill, O'Neill

that isn't bad!! But I think if we are involved in a 3 way deal that's because we will get player of each team.. and not 2 from the same (hill and o'neill) but who knows... None of us will probably be right anyway

Then we can sign Glen Murray in the offseason and trade Zednik and Rivet for Gonchar...!

Hurray

I see this as the most desirable way that the trade rumours could pan out. It will go CGY>MTL>CAR and back to CGY who started the domino and get something from the Canes.
CGY trades Conroy, Gauthier & Turek (pledging to eat all but 1.5 million in salary off his 4.5/year for the next 2 seasons) to MTL for Hainsey and Sundstrom. MTL trades Conroy, Turek, Quintal, Dykhuis to CAR for O'Neil and a 2nd rounder. THen CAR trades Hill and Radim Vrbata to CGY for Hainsey and Chris Clark. I see Boughner getting dealt to Vancouver or something for a draft pick (6th rounder)

So, that means:
-CGY gets Hill (a PP Quarterback they need while we don't need for long term), Sundstrom (a Sutter fave) and Vrbata (kid with potential still) while giving up Conroy, Gauthier, Clark and Turek.
-Our Habs get O'Neil (power forward just stuck with mediocre talent in CAR, he's a risk but huge upside as a former 40-goal man and he's still 28 or so), Gauthier (hard-hitting local favourite), and a 2nd rounder while giving up Quintal, Dykhuis, Sundstrom, a 4th rounder and Hainsey. And when Souray returns, it pushes Boullion back to the minors from the 7th d-man spot so we can have him gone by next season to push Komisarek into regular duty.
We'll have
Souray-Markov
Brisebois-Rivet
Komisarek-Gauthier (ouch, that hurts)
-CAR gets Conroy (pretty good two-way centre), Turek (cheap salary eating for backup duty to Weekes), 6th rounder (for Boughner), Clark (speedy pest), Hainsey (future no. 1 d-man), Quintal (experience) and Dykhuis (uhhh, uhhh) while giving up O'Neil, Hill, also dumping Vrbata yet gaining more youth potential, IMO, with Hainsey. Besides, Q and Dykhuis are vets whose contracts run out soon and they can either play for less or get dumped by CAR-simply an experiment for CAR to try out some Defensive experience.
It won't be this complex and layered, but I think this works it out well for everyone and with O'Neil, it only makes us more tough up front without sacrificing any immediate scoring threats. What does everyone else think?
Lineup for the playoffs (if, lo and behold, we can squeek in):
O'Neil-Koivu-Zednik
Balej/Hossa-Ribeiro-Ryder
Bulis-Juneau/Begin-Ward
Kilger/Langdon-Begin/Perreault-Dagenais/Dackell
Defense is as mentioned above.
