Exactly, Miller would have landed 7+ on July 1 next year. Is he worth 7+? No probably not, but GMs lose their minds on July 1.

This is a great signing for buffalo. I think miller is a top 10 goalie. Even if it might be a bit of an overpayment, it makes the Lundquist contract look damn sexy.

The market strikes again. Is he overpaid? Yes. Will he be overpaid in 3 years? Probably not.

Exactly. 30 teams and ten top goalies.....someone has to pay or say goodbye

Congratulations Sabre fans! Miller is one of the best goalies in the league IMO.

Yeah, a little rich for my taste right now, but in the long run, it will probably prove to be a good deal. The market is like gas prices...up, up and away.

Allowing Miller to leave next year would've been Drury/Briere backlash times 10. This is a fantastic move by Darcy, and it'll help shed the Sabres' negative stigma and take the contract weight off Miller and the locker room's shoulders during the season. I'm ecstatic.

Next up, Capt. Pominville.

Pascal Leclaire is currently an RFA and will command about the same number.

Roberto Luongo in 2 years, but he already is making more. If he is in form, could get +/- 10M.

Carey Price if he really is the God amongst men we're being told he is.

Cam Ward is arbitration eligible in 2 years, probably won't get as much unless he establishes himself as a top-10 goalie, but he will get a raise just because that's how it is.

Niklas Backstrom is a UFA next year. Someone needing a goalie will gladly jump on him.

Vesa Toskala in 2 years -- and Toronto will do what they have to do to keep him.

Marty Turco in 2 years will be a UFA.

Evgeni Nabokov in 2 years -- will likely get over $7M

Nikolai Khabibulin will be a UFA -- if he proves worthy will get a decent contract, unlikely it will be more than $5M.

Martin Biron will be a UFA -- if the Flyers make the playoffs and gets hot again the Flyers will not hesitate. I don't know if he'll get twice as much as he's getting, but the Flyers make sure they have the guys they want locked up.

Jose Theodore only signed a 2-year deal, and if the Caps do well with him, will get more.

And don't forget Erik Ersberg, who if he has a big year, could get a big contract. Although, since he plays with the Kings, is unlikely, but they don't want him to be another guy who got away -- the league is littered with former Kings who fit that description.

With the market being what it was he slots in nicely IMO at 6.25mil per. He is getting more than Huet (5.65mil per) who I feel he is better than and less than Lundquist (6.875mil per) who is better than he is.

It's a bit more than I was hoping for, but buying UFA years costs money.

The best part is: NO MORE MILLER TO DETROIT THREADS!! I've been saying he'd get his extension in every one of those threads, and it sure does feel good to be right

I think that it is too much but ok.
Maybe we (Detroit fans) don't have a realistic view of today’s market. Almost everyone on the Red Wings is playing below market price.

Anyway, we can stop with those ridicules rumours of Miller going to Detroit.

Congratz Buffalo Fans.
