Where are the Sedins in your calculations? Do you think they would remain static playing with Demitra or Sundin?
The problem with you and I am not the only person that has noticed it.

You argue points about the other teams but will fail to acknowledge the same points about the Oilers when they are brought up.

Playing devils advocate is great but it is pointless to debate a person that will guarantee something on one team but then in the same breath say that it is not guaranteed for another team.

It is not like I made wild expectations!

It is reasonable to assume that the Oilers will improve offensively this year.

Sundin on the other hand has yet to sign with the Canucks.

One person wanted it, many feel that t's not that big of a deal seemingly. Mats Sundin being added to any team that wasn't a lottery team last year IS a big deal.

PPG player, solid in the dot, solid ES player, big and strong, veteran leadership, hunger to win a Cup before he rides off into the sunset, hunger to cement his legacy.

I don't want a guy like this on a team that I despise and one that we'll be fighting against for a play-off berth and possibly a division crown.

Make your Oiler guarantees then. I'm listening.

I guarantee Vancouver finishes below both Edmonton and Calgary, with or without Sundin.

I am different than you. There are no guarantees in this division. That would be foolhardy.

I think it will be a dogfight for the division.

If the Canucks fail to sign Sundin they may finish on the short end of that battle, if they sign Sundin as a few other posters have already said it will be even more of a dogfight.

Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton will battle for the division title.

It is going to be close.

I am not convinced that he makes them a guarantee to win the division.

But he guarantees much more of a fight.

That seems to be the only area of contention for you and I so I will leave it at that.

Guarentee??? No. Make them the favorites??? Probably. However, when was the last time that the NW division winner was way out in front and styed that way??? Should be close irregardless, however I'd rather it be a 2 horse race instead of a 3 headed monster

Quick question.

Are you always being so contrary so you can say "I told you so" at the end of the season if we don't make the playoffs?

Is anyone else surprised that when Gillis took over as GM some of his very first statements were of the nature that things were so messed up in Vancouver that there is no way a turn around will be as simple as a couple off season moves and now he is trying to sell the moves he has made to Sundin as if they will be contenders with him in the line up?

The Canucks have to replace Naslund's 55 points and Morrison's 9 goal, 25 points. If Sundin, Demitra, Bernier and Wellwood couldn't replace those numbers they shouldn't be playing hockey. If Mats Sundin signs in Vancouver they go from 23rd best offense to probably around 10-15th. Considering they're probably going to be hovering around top 5-7 defensively, I would say they're the favourites for the NW division once again.
That's 80 points Sundin, Demitra, Bernier and Wellwood have to replace.

Sundin by himself should get 80.
Demitra, Bernier and Wellwood is safe for 120 AT LEAST.

What? Did Mrs. Sundin look at the map and suddenly realize that Washington is a lot closer to Sweden than Vancouver is?

If i am Sundin, i would join the Wings for 1 million instead. Money shouldnt be a factor anymore after earning so much from the leafs
